Small saimin with vegetables. A local basic standard style of saimin in Hawaii. This one comes with the noodles separated from the soup when it's a take out order. This way the noodle doesn't get soggy soaking in the soup. Similar to cooking a steak, the noodles can be cooked hard, medium, or soft. Not many places allow you to order noodles cooked to your liking. One place that does is Shiro's Saimin Haven in Aiea. I've been going to Shiro's since I was a toddler. Their list of saimin varieties is the most I've ever seen. Saimin is their specialty but they do serve other items like plate lunches, sandwiches, etc. You can either order take out at the window outside or you can dine in. If you haven't been to Shiro's yet, you should try it at least once but be forewarned that it does get crowded.
