Decorating a cake can be quite scary if you don’t have any kind of experience doing it; those baking shows on television only make us feel bad when we are not able to do anything like that. However, you don’t need to do much to make your cake a little bit pretty, and let me be honest with you, I prefer extremely basic decorating that those fondant and royal icing versions.
- NAKED DRIP CAKE
If the only thing you have to decorate is chocolate this idea is for you, you will only need chocolate and some butter. Melt your chocolate with the butter to create your dripping mix, using a teaspoon start to drip the chocolate at the edges of your cake very very slowly; remember your cake have to be a cold temperature. When you finish the edges use the rest of the chocolate for the top. After this, take your cake to the fridge, your chocolate needs to set.
You can use more melted chocolate to decorate some more or leave it just like that
- COOKIES AND CANDY BARS CAKE
If melting chocolate is not for you, you can use prepacked cookies or candy bars to make a pretty decent cake. You will need some buttercream or in this case dulce de leche to glue your cookies to the cake.
I put some dulce de leche to the side of my cake, a thick layer, and started to glue Nutella filled wafer sticks. At the top, I sprinkled confectioner sugar to make the top layer, placed the cardboard numbers, and then I sprinkled crushed peanuts on top of them; slowly and very carefully take away the cardboard numbers to create the design
(this is another idea you can use)
- BOWS, BOWS, BOWS
You can go wrong if use bows to decorate your cake. This cake is from my best friend’s baby shower, she wanted something simply because she was on a budget. I used melted white chocolate for the top of both cakes. After the chocolate layer was set I made the bows and place them one on top of the other. I made a cake topper from fondant and sprinkled the whole cake with edible glitter.
