Pidie Apam Fair Media Introducing Culinary Aceh

Banda Aceh - Pidie Apam Fair is expected to become one of the traditional tourism events held annually in Aceh. Moreover, this activity is a form of pride and a means of introducing culinary diversity "Bumi Serambi Mecca" to the wider community.

Such was the appeal delivered by Vice Chairman of PKK and Dekranasda Aceh, Dyah Erti Idawati, when giving a speech at the opening of Pidie Apam Fair, which was centered in Sigli Town Square on Sunday (30/4/2018)

"Fortunately, Pidie District Government is quite concerned with the culinary preservation of Aceh, so the idea came up to organize the Tôt Apam (cooking / baking pancake) competition in Pidie Apam Fair 2018. As far as we know, this is the first festival ever held in Aceh, "said Dyah Erti

He considered it reasonable if there are people of Aceh are happy with the festival like this. Especially for those who know the delicacy of the cake. In addition, such activities are also a nostalgic medium for residents who have felt the pleasure of baking cake formulated by mother, grandmother or other family members in the past

As is known, Aceh is one region in the archipelago that has a diversity of traditional food types. At least there are more than 154 kinds of traditional food in this area. Rice or pancake is one of them.

Apam is a typical Aceh snack made from a mixture of rice flour, coconut milk, coconut water, water, salt and sugar. The materials are then stirred and poured in a medium made of clay, which in Aceh is called cuprok tanöh, small in size. Next cuprok tanöh it burned until the apam that is in it dries up. This cooking technique is often called the tôt apam (burning pancake)

"For the people of Aceh who have enjoyed the apam, it is difficult to forget the local taste and deliciousness.Unfortunately, recently the cooking culture of apam, especially in Pidie, began to be forgotten many people.Although there is still, how to cook it may already be different because it tends to use tools modern .This is what makes the apam no longer as tasty as it used to be less desirable to many people, "said Dyah Erti.

Dyah Erti also appreciated the Pidie District Government which has initiated the event which was attended by more than 1,000 apacly sculptors, who came from 23 sub-districts in Pidie. The participants will compete to be the best at this inaugural event.

Amatan in the field seen many people who participated in Pidie Apam Fair 2018. In addition, this culinary event also helped thousands of visitors to come to Square Square Square Sigli.

"Pidie Apam Fair is a highly potential tourism activity to be developed in the future, besides preserving our traditional cuisine, as well as introducing Acehnese special food to the public, thus the people of Indonesia are not only familiar with Gayo, timpan, curry as culinary from Aceh, but also recognize the apam as one of the special foods from our region, "said Dyah Erti

After delivering his speech, Dyah Erti accompanied by Regent Pidie, Roni Ahmad, also participated in reviewing a number of stands at the site. Dyah also get short tutorials from the participants about how to tôt apam is good and correct.
