Good Morning and Happy Friday! Here's a picture of a Zapiekanki z Bekon I got from a vendor at Plac Nowy in Kraków, Poland. I was having some drinks at the Hevre when @mynewlife gave me the recommendation to try a Zapiekanki. I wasn't quite sure what a Zapiekanki was, but I walked around the corner to Plac Nowy and ordered one with bacon. It's a baguette the size of my arm, topped with cheese, mushrooms, bacon, roasted onion and a spicy Arabic sauce. This delicious street snack was only 8 Zloty which is about 2 dollars. It was exactly what I needed before a #BeerSaturday bar crawl with the @steemfest folks.

          That looks delicious! I thought it was named zapienkanka? We had that too in Indonesia but smaller than that.

            @macchiata zapiekanka means sth close to "an ovened thing". Try it if you ever be in Poland, especially in Kraków :)

                It is just bread baguette-style with cheese and many different ingredients baked :) But we also sometimes use the same name to describe pasta baked with cheese (sth like mac cheese). Pierogi are god tier, but the rest is also amazing :)

                  More info! what's the polish name for mac and cheese? :-D
                  I tried to make my own pierogi in the past with caramelized onion, best thing ever according to me. I tried gofry in polish cafe here, not bad and my friend told me " basically it's just waffle".

                              Right?!? Everything there was so affordable. I’d eat like a king at this Bbq place across from my place for next to nothing. Would cost 4 times in the states.
