A trip to a market in Asia is always a treat and Cambodia has some exceptional produce.
Somehow today was just a red day because once I got home, unpacked, washed and dried my haul I realized how much red there was in the bag.
Perhaps it was red of the towel they were drying on which made me appreciate the reds. I had to add some kaffir lime leaves to the mix for contrast! ๐
Although the produce is excellent in Cambodia owing to fertile soil and excellent climate the hygiene sometimes creates issues. I have seen markets where the produce is in the street surrounded by muddy water.
To be safe it is important to thoroughly wash and dry your produce if you are going to consume the skin. I even have a friend who washes all his produce in boiled water. I understand his reasoning and sometimes do this myself.
Red is such an interesting color. A chili is red to warn of it's heat, a tomato becomes read to tell us it will be sweet. I have always enjoyed eating things with red colors. I am not sure why but I probably always will enjoy consuming reds... ๐
