While the rest of the world has been concerned over gun laws, war and crypto currency scams, Australia and New Zealand have been obsessed with this little gem of a chocolate bar this month.
So what makes this bar so special? well first lets look at it's creator, Cadbury Chocolate.
Cadbury:
Cadbury was established in Birmingham, England in 1824, by John Cadbury who sold tea, coffee and drinking chocolate. Cadbury developed the business with his brother Benjamin, followed by his sons Richard and George. George developed the Bournville estate, a model village designed to give the company's workers improved living conditions. Dairy Milk chocolate, introduced in 1905, used a higher proportion of milk within the recipe compared with rival products. By 1914, the chocolate was the company's best-selling product. Cadbury, alongside Rowntree's and Fry, were the big three British confectionery manufacturers throughout much of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
New Zealand and Australia being 2 countries under the British commonwealth have enjoyed the connection to british trade and products since. Cadbury has now become a household name in this part of the world.
**Which brings us to the subject at hand. Cadbury Caramilk. **
Cadbury has brought back a Kiwi treasure - Caramilk - a golden, creamy blend of caramelised white chocolate.
Originally created in 1994, the smooth, creamy texture and golden caramel colour of Caramilk quickly became a Kiwi flavour institution.
Caramilk was released in 2017 for a brief period and in the last month as special editions, people know it tastes like nothing else on the market today and marketing prompts that it will take them back to the 1990s, sparking fond memories of sharing Caramilk with family and friends. Those that have never tried Caramilk before are in for a real treat.
Caramilk has a flavour all its own. The Caramilk chocolate crumb is made by cooking milk and sugar together and those rich caramel notes are developed during the cooking process and then blended with cocoa butter. The crumb is then refined and carefully churned to deliver a smooth creamy chocolate, which is then moulded into the golden blocks.
The decadent white chocolate has a strong caramel taste that is just the right amount of sweet and slightly salty.
Unfortunate news was released last week as traces of food grade plastic were found in bars in Australia, this prompted a large recall of bars and now there is doubt about whether it's worth buying. I'm sure this hasn't deterred the chocolate lovers will to risk eating plastic for the joy though lol.
Cadbury Caramilk is now available for a limited-time from supermarkets and dairies all over New Zealand and a few places in Australia that aren't afraid of eating plastic lol.
STAY TUNED FOR MY VIDEO WHERE I WILL BE TRYING CARAMILK CHOCOLATE FOR THE FIRST TIME!
I think I am more of a purist, and prefer my caramel tucked up inside a nice block of dairy milk caramello, lol.
Scary stuff about the contamination of plastic found.
Also, woohoo another kiwi! :D
