Crabs In Malunggay Soup

in food •  6 years ago

Hello there Steemians!

It's been awhime since we had crabs on our dining table. I missed indulging in it. We could rarely see crabs veing sold in our market for a long time now. I was wondering why, but did not really had time to ask about it.

Today, my cousin dropped by another town's market before coming home. He was generous enough to buy some crabs. He said these crabs cost 150php per kilo.

This Was Our Dinner For Today

Initially, I cooked the crabs first before making the malunggay soup.

The Preparation

After cleaning the crabs, put in a wok, add some vinegar and salt. Let it boil, stir the crabs occassionally until the vinegar drained out and the crabs turned red or pinkish.

On a separate pan, boil 3 cups of water or so. Put in the malunggay leaves and a number of crabs. As to how many crabs you'd like to put there, should be your choice. Add salt and seasoning to taste. Let it simmer for a minute or two and serve.

Since there were extra more, we also serve it during the dinner and enjoyed so much. After a long time, I finally got to eat crabs again.

We call these little crabs as "kasag" in our dialect. If they were larger in size, we call them "lambay".
