Everyone in my family likes dried fish except my brother-in-law. He said he doesn't like the smell when you cook it and he never had the slightest interest to have a taste of it. "Thanks but no thanks" would be his appropriate remarks after you offer him this dish. As for the rest of the family members, the dried fish aka "buwad" in our dialect, is the most convenient meal to prepare whenever we are pressed for time. You simply do the following:
- Heat oil in the pan.
- Put the dried fish. After a minute or two, turn the other side.
- Take the dried fish from the pan and serve.
It is salty but we find it delicious especially when paired with rice. It is best served with mixed vinegar and spices on the side to dip in.
