Hello everyone,
Kay is back with something big, as usual the thrilling kinda stuff, well this one is way more interesting because I and my camera decided to go on a tour and I am here to give you all the whole gist.

The Palm Oil MIssion

Mission Location: Somwhere in Akwa Ibom State.

Essien Udim Local Government Area, is found in Akwa Ibom State. The local government is known for its industrious and hardworking inhabitants. It is known for its large plantation of palm trees as well as its cool environs.

The picture below depicts a certain part in Ekpenyong Atai 1 a community in Essien Udim. Large plot of lands are being cultivated for the sole purpose of harvesting palm fruits.

At a tender age of the plantation.

                                     THE HARVESTING PROCESS

A ripe palmfruit ready for harvest.

They are mostly harvested by the use of cutlass where someone actually goes up the tree with the use of ladder or rope.

Aftermath

After being picked out of the bunch by hand picking or machine shaking, this is what the seeds actually look like.

                                    THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

After being picked out from the bunch, it is being transferred to a pot where it is being subjected to large amount of heat

Boiling

The pot used is relatively big to support huge amounts of palm fruits to aid a great and nice outcome of palm oil.

Power Source

This engine / machine here does the job of generating mechanical energy which is used by most machines to aid faster productivity.

As the rims are turning it uses a belt principle to any machine coupled with it as shown, just like the fan belts in cars.

Pounding

This is the churning machine, whereby the boiled palm seeds are actually poured into it to be churned/pounded to make it easier to get the oil out of it.

Inlet: this is located on the top of the machine where boiled seed are poured in through this opening.

Outlet: Here is normally closed while the seeds are being poured in thus after the seeds are pounded/churned to taste, it is opened to take them out into a presser.

The presser

This is used to press the pounded/churned palm fruits, to bring out the oil from it as you can see in the picture below.

After being subjected to the process the oil extracted is then filtered and stored.

they are mostly stored in buckets and kegs.

Products

With the general appreciation of palm oil in nigeria, its is found in every household due to the fact that it is mostly used in 70% of meals prepared in the country.

Hey there, I poped in from #CurationSunday. This procedure is way cooler than the one I witnessed few years ago in Osun state. They had women matching the palms in pit...lol.
