The corporations have to do this, in order to maintain the illusion of scarcity. The human race currently produces far more food than it would take to feed everyone (even with the hyper-inefficient practices of factory farms, GMOs, and eating animals).

There was a time I dived in some dumpster too. Amazing how much you get out of there. Every Friday there used to be an open, free donation kitchen (Ghent, Belgium) until shops put cameras and locks on their dumpster. And now it all goes to waste :-( However, now we live in Cambodia and nothing goes to waste here! Keep up the good work!
