I travel the world #397: Japanese Soulfood Curryrice

Japanese Soulfood Curryrice

Japanese took a lot food from foreign countries and perfected the food. Tempura (came from Portugal) but it is best in Japan, Curry came from India but I like Japanese Curry Rice a lot. They took Schnitzel from Vienna and made Katsu (Just with the world's best meat) so while the idea of many dishes came from other countries, in my eyes many of them have been perfected in Japan. Today I wanted you to learn about Japanese Curry Rice. The Sauce is different than Indian Curry and I love it.

Cocoichi is a Japanese Curry Rice Chain and offers a lot different Curryrice Variations. You can have Curryrice with Pork or Beef. Add Vegetables like spinach or broccoli or you can just add cheese. You can chose how much rice you want and of course there is the spice selection, You can chose how spicy you want your Curryrice. I just eat it with +1 but you can chose superhot which will burn your mouth away. I like adding Katsu (fried beef or pork on top of the Curryrice)

Please try out Curryrice if you have the chance, this is one thing you won't see too often outside Japan, but it is delicious.

Ever tried Curryrice before ???

I love Japanese curry, there is a sweetness to it and the sweetness comes from the addition of apple!

I wish i would live there for month... Or So. It So great culture. What suprise you there?

yummy yummy yummy @knozaki2015 :D

wow

The pics clicked by you are as good as the food :)

@knozaki2015 Hmmm. I have always had Indian curry. Typically, Indian curry is also eaten with rice but a combination of meat and veggies is rare. It is either a vegitarian curry or meat based curry. The texture is different too. As you say, the Japanese have adopted the Indian curry to their specific food style. I think the curry is thicker and a bit gelatinous compared to Indian curry. I have never tried the Cocoichi CurryRice but am enticed to try next time. Their display, the brightly colored delivery vehicle - everything looks inviting. I have tried Katsu before. I like your idea of combining Katsu and curryrice. Will certainly try that combination next time. Thanks for bringing this to the notice of Steemians. Upvoted.

Come to Europe

I love Japanese-style curry. Fortunately the ingredients to make it at home are easy to find in America so sometimes I make it here too. In fact, now I'm starting to think I should make it for dinner tonight…

That reminds me of an embarrassing story I have about eating in a Japanese curry restaurant… Maybe I need to make a post about my embarrassing Japanese restaurant stories…

Dayyuum, is that the pork on the curryrice pictured above? Looks great either way. Last time I was in Japan I was 9 years old, but I eagerly wait the chance to take my next trip.

I don't why I get all sorts of curry locally - Indian, Malay and all, but sometimes I still kind of crave for the Japanese ones. I know it's different.

That food looks so heavy ... totally reminds me of the food served in Hawaii, more like the loco moco plates lunches.

i have once coco in Taiwan, and once in Japan, both of the flavor taste all the same,i love Japanese Curry rice , especially some have the smooth egg on it!! sooo delicious! :P

Yeah with eggg is great!
