I travel the world Part 9: Tokyo Tenmasa Ozashiki Tempura Maranouchi Building

in food •  8 years ago  (edited)

Everybody loves Japanese Sushi and Ramen Noodles but did you ever wonder why Tokyo alone has more Michelin Stars than Paris, Germany and London combined? The reason is, that Japanese Cuisine has a huge variety of dishes which you wont ever see in your home tome Sushi Bar.

One of my favorite is Tempura which is totally different from that Japanese Lunch Tempura you possibly ate in Tokyo or anywhere else in the world.

Tempura is Food ART. I dont have another expression for this. Tempura is Food from Heaven,  but you have to experience it in a really good Tempura Restaurant. Nobody who has ever eaten real Tempura will be able to explain what tastes so amazing, but everybody will tell you that it is indeed heaven!

I was fortunate enough to be invited to visit Tenmasa in the past, it is located at Maranouchi Building next to the Tokyo Main Station. The Restaurant is at the 23rd floor, but as i sat at the counter, so i didn't check the view out of the windows.

After tasting the first tempura dish prepared right in front of me, i spoke to the Chef, he felt that i was genuinely excited about his food, that he gave 120% in preparing the Tempura for me

Name: Tenmasa Ozashiki Tempura Restaurant, Maranouchi Building
Address:  Marunochimarunochibirudeingu, Chiyoda 100-6335, Tokyo
Budget: 10,000-35,000 JPY

Open: Mon-Sun 17:30-23:00   (Lunchtime 11-14pm)

Website:  http://ten-masa.jp/introduction_maru.html Phone: 03-5220-3170

Be prepared to take your credit-card, even i took the Menu for 16.000 Yen (150USD) we ended up paying 36.000 Yen per person. So what happened? The food was so amazing, that we ordered more stuff recommended by the chef, and we had drinks. So that was a super expensive dinner, but i still remember this as a experience from Heaven (I rate this Restaurant higher than Mikawa at Roppongi Hills) and even i didn't have to pay myself, if i paid it, i would say it was worth every penny!

That prawn dish will kill me! Highly allergic to shellfish but looks amazing! Well done! Also very jealous that you have been to Japan. I am dying to go, more so for their car culture but also to try some food.

just do it and go. japan is not expensive. food might be. but you can have an noodle soup strating at 3$...

Money is not the issue, we are expecting our first child in one month so things have been a bit disruptive. Hopefully get out there in the next 2 years.

hi, following you and upvoted you amsterdam post ;)

usually i try to find the best restaurants locals go, thats the authentic food you want to eat. but sometimes, i am lucky enough to go to these kind of restaurants, which are expensive but worth every penny.

i have tens of restaurants i visited the last years, so there will be more food posts for you ;)

Your posts keep making me hungry. I went to Japan about 10 years ago and loved the food. You can get some Japanese food in England but it is just not the same. Unfortunately it will likely be ages before I can return to Japan due to health issues and being off work (plus the weak pound after Brexit). All the best:)

yeah, but you got some pretty good food in london? i mean its expensive, but still cheaper than to fly to japan !

Love sushi and Asian food! Thank you for sharing. Now I'm hungry! :p
