My grandfather is a Chinese who migrated to the Philippines when he was a young boy. He introduced many important Chinese recipes to us, but sadly was unable to pass down to us the complete details for each recipe. Having many female grandkids, he usually favors the males. Nonetheless, he made sure he is fair with the division of food in the family, so nobody complained. :)
