Eating Lentils can help lower blood sugar levels and prevent

The study was conducted by researchers at the University of Guelph and published in the journal of Scientific Nutrition.

The researchers explained that lentils reduce the proportion of glucose in the blood and significantly improves the body's response to carbohydrates .

To reach these results , the researchers followed 24 healthy adult who ate different dishes , either white rice or half a rice dish and half a lentil dish (such as a plate or a dish).

They repeated this process with potatoes , where a group of potatoes , or half a plate of potatoes and half a plate of lentils .

The researchers measured glucose levels in participants' blood before eating and within two hours of eating .

And found that eating lentils instead of half the amount of human intake of rice and potatoes can significantly improve the body's response to carbohydrates and lowers glucose levels in the blood .

They added that eating lentils of half the share of potatose reduced blood sugar by 35%

According ti the study , legume - such as lentil - can slow the digestion process and release sugar in the bloodstream , which lowers the levels of glucose in the blood .

The head of the research team , Professor Allison Duncan , a professor of human health and nutritional sciences , said that legumes have the potential to reduce chronic diseases associated with high levels of glucose in the blood , such as type 2 diabetes .
