GULAMAN FOR REFRESHING COOLING FOR THE HEAT WEATHER

in food •  6 years ago

So Hot The Summer Heat. This sago at gulaman drink is sweet, thirst-quenching and popular during the sizzling summer months. A local Filipino beverage made of brown sugar, water, gelatin, and tapioca pearls is called Sago at Gulaman. Sago refers to tapioca pearls while gulaman is the Filipino term for gelatin. I stepped outside hoping for a respite, however fleeting, from the heat that swam around the house. I was a bored kid with nothing to do. No school and no friends. No television. No radio even.

It has also come to refer to the refreshment or dessert, sometimes referred to as samalamig or sago't gulaman, sold at roadside stalls and vendors. This drink consists of gulaman cubes and/or sago or tapioca pearls.
