So Hot The Summer Heat. This sago at gulaman drink is sweet, thirst-quenching and popular during the sizzling summer months. A local Filipino beverage made of brown sugar, water, gelatin, and tapioca pearls is called Sago at Gulaman. Sago refers to tapioca pearls while gulaman is the Filipino term for gelatin. I stepped outside hoping for a respite, however fleeting, from the heat that swam around the house. I was a bored kid with nothing to do. No school and no friends. No television. No radio even.
