Salutations Steemit Friends!

I was browsing through the Steemit food posts earlier and stumbled upon some enticing pizza porn (an "everything" bagel meets pizza dream crust) by the very talented @gringalicious.

It was lunchtime (and per usual), I had skipped breakfast. That pizza peep show had my tummy growling and my mouth salivating.... GIMME PIZZA!

Typically, I wait until the weekend to make homemade pizzas. And despite living in New York City where we have a pizza joint on nearly each city block, I find that there's something so satisfying about making and enjoying your own pie. I knew I wasn't going to make it to the weekend...soooo Hump Day pizza it is!

Luckily, I've perfected an all-flour pizza dough recipe that's super easy to make and rises quickly. And when I say quickly, I mean fifteen minutes kind of quick. All it takes are a few basic ingredients. So, roll up your sleeves and let's make some dough!

Fast & Easy Pizza Dough Recipe & Instructions

Ingredients in Order

1.5 tbsp active dry yeast (or 1 .25 ounce package)
1 tsp sugar (white or cane)
1 1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F, or 45 C)
3 cups of unbleached all-purpose flour
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sea salt
*optional pinch of baking powder

First, pre-heat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (or 232 Celsius). You may need to up the temp. to 500 depending on how much sauce and toppings you place on your pizza and how well your oven heats. Personally, I like to use a pizza stone, but it's no biggie if you don't have one.

Next, heat the water to 110 degrees F (or about 45 degrees C). Combine yeast, sugar and water in a large mixing bowl and let sit until creamy, about 10 minutes. FYI: Don't overheat the water! If you do, you'll risk killing the yeast.

Now add the dry ingredients and olive oil. I like to add a pinch of baking powder so my pizza crust is extra puffy!

Beat ingredients together until you have formed a smooth ball, like this guy in the picture below. I find using an electric mixer with a dough hook works best. Cover the mixing bowl with a clean dishcloth and let rise for at least fifteen minutes.

If I'm not pressed on time, I will let the dough rise a bit longer. However, if I'm starving for pizza, after fifteen minutes I get something like this...

I divide the dough into two separate balls. Each dough ball rolls out a 12" thin crust pizza.

Now you're ready to flour up yours hands and a hard surface. Give your baby dough ball a nice knead like my sous chef, @alexpmorris.

Once you've finished kneading, you'll be ready to roll...roll out that is! I'll finish my first Steemit pizza party in another follow up post.

After all, this one's getting a tad stretched out (yes, that was a pizza pun) and you're probably hungry. I know I AM!

But first, here's a peek of how my pie turned out. Mmmmmmmm.....hello delicious!

Again, this basic recipe is what has been working for me. Feel free to adapt it for your own liking! If you have an awesome pizza recipe and or yummy tips, please share in the comments below. Until next time...

Bon AppΓ©tit!

pizza looks absolutely delicious!

Thanks @domo ! It was...

It's been a long time ago but I have made my own pizza dough. It's fun. But the convenience of ordering from a local place keeps me from doing it myself. I found a really good locally owned pizza shop near me. And honestly they do a better job than me. Plus there is no clean up. Your article is clear, easy to follow and the photos are excellent. The lighting is good, everything is in focus ,and the last little video is a hoot.
