Today McDonald's is one of the world's leading fast food chains. Hamburger has served around 68 million people in over 100 countries since 1940 and has the most diverse hamburger menus that appeal to a lot of people. However, the story behind the McDonald's restaurant is unknown to many and is surprising.

It all began in 1937 when Patrick McDonald decided to open a food booth called "The Airdrome." But three years later for brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald, they opened McDonald's first restaurant in California with a menu of 25 barbecue items.

At the time, the best-selling products were hamburgers. So the brothers decided to close the restaurants and reopen with more than nine burger options sold for nine cents. In 1952 the McDonald decided to franchise the restaurant and the first one was opened in Arizona, in the United States.

The restaurant's success was so great that it took beating salesman Ray Kroc to ask the brothers to let him make the McDonald's franchise outside of California and Arizona. That's when he tried to open one at Disneyland.

In 1958, 18 years after the start of McDonald's, the restaurant had sold 100 million hamburgers. A year later the company started making ads on billboards.

Despite the success of the fast food chain, in 1961 the McDonald brothers decided to sell the company's business rights for more than R $ 2 million reais to Kroc. At the time, he decided to make a redesign in the company and change the logo, using only a golden M.

A year later, McDonald's appeared in Life magazine, the first to make room for the company. That same season, the restaurant became the first to have seats in the state of Colorado (USA). The next year the billionth burger was sold and fish are included in the menu.

Already in 1967 the McDonald's opens the first restaurant outside the USA. The chosen city was British Columbia, in Europe. A year later the famous Big Mac began to be commercialized, and happened to be the company's best selling hamburger.

32 years after the beginning of McDonald's history the company had already generated about $ 1 billion in sales through 2,200 restaurants. But the famous Drive-Thru was only opened for the first time in 1975 in Arizona. At the same time, the new McMuffin was introduced.

The famous Mc Lanche Feliz began to be sold in the year of 1979. The chosen theme was circus wagon. By the end of 1983 McDonald's was in 32 countries with 7,778 restaurants. The nuggets were introduced in all restaurants.

Already 1984 was marked with sadness, year in which Ray Kroc died. A year later the first McDonald's store was reopened as a museum. And, four years later, the first Korean and Serbian restaurant were launched. In addition, Fortune magazine named McDonald's burgers as one of America's 100 Best Products.

In 1993, McCafé was launched in Australia and spanned 13 countries in 2002, the first in the US opened in 2001. In 2003 it was the largest coffee brand in Australia and New Zealand. The famous Arch Deluxe sandwich was only released two years later. At the time they wanted to propose a more mature image of the company and introduced an advertising campaign with the following words: "You already had your break today".
