Rice is the staple food for most people in Indonesia. Rice is popular because it has a high carbohydrate content and is able to make the stomach become full. However, it turns out that rice has a fairly high sugar content and can cause health problems such as diabetes or obesity.

Along with the development of a healthy lifestyle, today people are encouraged to reduce the consumption of rice and replace it with other foodstuffs. Then, what foods can replace rice? Consider the following list.

1.Sago

Sago can be used as an alternative food substitute for rice because it has a complete nutritional content, ranging from carbohydrates to protein. To be able to consume, sago first processed into flour, then can be cooked.

2.Corn

A study at the University of Los Banos, Philippines, concluded that corn is a healthful substitute for rice. This is because corn contains vitamin A, B and also low glycemic levels, thereby reducing the risk of diabetes. In Indonesia, corn is a staple food for the people of East Nusa Tenggara and Madura.

  1. Sorghum

Sorghum is a type of grain crop that is still one family with rice, wheat and corn. To consume, Sorgum usually processed into porridge. Sorghum is one of the rice substitute foods that have high magnesium content and is useful for regulating blood sugar levels in the body. That way, Sorghum is very fit for consumption by diabetics.

Corn is very sweet, lots of sugar, so I have big doubts about that. Also it is hard to digest. With us people rice does not fill the stomach at all. After 1 hour you already feel hungry again. Rice is way more healthy as grain, wheat and potatoes. So perhaps you should eat less rice and more meat, eggs, fruit and vegetables and you will do fine (although fruit is full of sugar as well).
