Are you one of those people that eats half of the dough while making cookies before even baking them?
Iβm with you! But today we are not making actual cookies but cookie dough that is supposed to be eaten raw.These cookie dough balls really taste like cookie dough. And not even like a healthy version of it, itβs like the real thing. The taste of it somehow reminds me of coffee even though thereβs no coffee in these. I think itβs the combination of the three ingredients that forms that flavour. Other than that, they taste a lot like chocolate chip cookies.
The main ingredient in these are chickpeas. But wait before you judge. It might sound weird to you, I was sceptical too before trying it. The other two ingredients in this cookie dough are dates and dark chocolate.
Dates are, as we all know, the worldβs best natural sweetener. They work perfectly in all recipes and this one is no exception.
We all know chocolate is a huge friend of mine. If you scroll down my blog, every second recipe will include chocolate. I for a long time used to think something canβt be healthy if it includes chocolate. But I was so wrong! While yes, dark chocolate is still not the healthiest but itβs not the worst either, cacao on the other side is healthy. Itβs the purest form of chocolate and is way less processed than actual chocolate.
Just one last note before we get to the recipe β do not try baking these cookies. This cookie dough is designed to be eaten raw, so donβt try changing it into baked cookies. Thereβs several other recipes for that out there.
Recipe | CHICKPEA COOKIE DOUGH BALLS πͺπ«
| INGREDIENTS
- 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 70 g dates
- 80 g dark chocolate
| METHOD
1/ Remove skins from the chickpeas.
2/ In a blender add chickpeas and dates. Blend until you get smooth cookie batter-like consistency.
3/ Add chopped chocolate and mix it in with a spoon (donβt blend).
4/ Serve in a bowl or roll into balls. Then enjoy!
*Store in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Chickpeas is the best for cookie dough! Nobody would know it's there unless you tell them :) What a great idea to take the peel off! I do it for hummus and I can say it's much better like this - somehow smoother. Thank you for sharing another amazing recipe!

Great idea! And I wouldn't have thought (bothered?) to take the skins off the chickpeas. Is there an easy and efficient way of doing this?

You can leave the skins on but keep in mind the cookie dough won't be as smooth and creamy and the taste might vary a bit but I think it should be fine. Let me know how it went if you decide to give it a go!
