This about sums up the reason why our family never goes to McDonald's for 'a meal'. Instead of the drive through, we opt for the drive past - to another burger joint like Burger Fuel that serves real (almost healthy) food! Or even better: make real, wholesome home made chips and burgers.

nice. I've never really thought about it in this context. it almost makes homemade fries seem healthy. What would be your preferred oil for the homemade fries?

We try and use olive oil for most things ... and bake the fries in the oven not in a deep fryer.

so pour a little olive oil on the fired and bake? Sounds pretty tasty for a treat. I prefer salty to sweet anyways. Much rather have fries than candy or ice cream.

Or even better, a stable animal fat like lard or tallow, which is what fries used to be cooked in, in the good old days. We do all our oven fries and roast veges in lard.

160 and 520 that a huge difference in calories. In addition to that, It also contains added chemicals that may have effect in health.
