THE COLORS OF THE CORN - PER REQUEST OF @NATHEN007

in food •  6 years ago

Ask and ye shall receive... at least in this case.

The right kind of variety can be a good thing, and I think that this is one of those situations. When I shared about planting our popcorn last week, @nathen007 asked if I could share more about some of the other varieties. While I am just getting started on this, we are growing quite a few kinds and I did have some dried ears of corn to show off, so here's the video I made yesterday.

THE AMAZING WORLD OF CORN VLOG!!!

In this vlog I share about some of my corn gardening experiences and ideas for the future. Corn is such a beneficial crop with so many uses, it is only appropriate that it also have so many wonderful colors to represent it.

After branching off from growing just sweet corn to also try growing our own popcorn, we are now looking at producing some for corn meal and animal feed. We've got a lot of varieties to test out, and it'll probably take years to dial everything in, but every day is an adventure in the garden.

I'm hoping that some of these kinds may even work good as a sweet corn. Can you imagine one hot off the grill, dripping with butter, and sprinkled with salt and pepper? We will see, but as far as I'm concerned, it'll be worth the try. Also, we are going to get into growing a variety of other grains too, so we will keep you posted on what all we get into. I'm heading back to the garden, because it's time to grow! I hope this helped @nathen007!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

I made sure I watched the video.
Soo many varieties of corns.
Definitely for different use.
One thing I see more is the yellow corn they use for everything.
Is there a nutrition factor for using the yellow one?
They are all beautiful and amazing to see.
Rainbow of corns.
Keep on steemin'

Sometimes I get tired of just yellow, you know?

Just look at that..... Thanks for info, Mate!...:)...

@papa-pepper can you imagine i have never seen coloured corn? This is so amazing . My country does not have variety. You should send me some red corn😉😉😉

Variety of corn

Впервые вижу такие разные сорта кукурузы!

this new discovery in the science of peetanian, so far only you who develop corn with variable color. I am very amazed by your ideas and ideas in proclaiming new plants. I'm sure that corn is likely to be another fruit you can develop into a new varabel.

I also want to plant those corn too.

So cool! Are you growing the Glass Gem variety? It's got to be do cool opening those ears each time! It's gorgeous 💜💚

Not yet, but I would like to!

I saw t for the first time just a few days ago. Looked it up, and it was legit. LOL. Has good reviews too!

We have always had such a fight with the local raccoons that we gave up growing corn but this year we are trying it again. Blue meal corn and red sweet corn.

Cool! Win that battle! The raccoons are no match for you!

People prepare corn off the cob here in Israel here but certainly not the multi-colored varieties you are showing here. The average person here though thinks that corn has always been here in the Old World as opposed to being a translated vegetable form Mexico.

a corn of that magnitude is a work of art I love, for sure here in my country that would cost a fortune to be handmade, I love friend you do incredible things, a big hug here your Venezuelan friend

Colorful corns they also looks tasty

Just a question - is all the corn shown popping corn? And when it pops, is it colored or white like most popping corn? Just curious.

Hehe good job.
Nice Food photography @papa-pepper ilike it

wow what a wonderful corn....just amazing....in a word its fantastic

wauuu is very pretty papa-pepper, what is it i really like @papa-pepper

Beutiful post

They don't look tasty at all

Thank you friend

Wow, those colors are really lovely. Ever since I found out corn didn't just come in yellow form, I've felt the need to give other corn a try, though regrettably I haven't had the chance.

I want to see some tortillas made with that corn! It reminds me of a show I saw once where they talked about a kind of fungus that grows on corn and how it had become a delicacy in Mexico over the years. They used it as a filling but also to make tortillas, and they turned out somewhat purple-ish! Really something I want to try.

I use to know that there are a lot of corn variety but I've not see corn of these colours before. Thanks papa for sharing this

Thank you for checking it out!

This is delicious food, i like this garden.
thanks for sharing this post, best of luck.
upvote and restreemit done.

wow! ive never seen corns with colors like that!

Well, firstly I'm amazed! I particularly loved the aqua green turquoise one, and like I said, I simply thought corn was yellow, the sort we love to eat in the UK and in Thailand, simply smothered in butter :-)
Really appreciate the time and effort and name check, I kind of feel like Ive been mentioned by royalty.
As always, my best wishes and warmest regards to you and your family. If anyone wants to see the dream being lived, they just need to watch your videos.
Cheers mate, I owe you one :-)

I loved the corn they had in South America when I was travelling there. They had them as bar snacks instead of peanuts.

At first I was a bit dubious, but once you started eating them it was hard to stop ;-)

I'd love to be able to grow all sorts of corn here, but alas corn is beyond my skills - and the hurricane force winds we get here don't help either ;-)

Oh my God, this is my first time to see these different colours of corn (maize), i'm used to white and yellow coloured corn....i can't imagine how this black one tastes, lol

Yeah it looks really good!

Am i the only one who have heard about cornhub, theres alot of diffrent type of corn there
