[FOOD IN KOREA 15] seeing a heartbroken friend. lunch at a Chinese restaurant and karaoke

in food •  7 years ago

Starving and going mindless from the heat, we scurried over to a Chinese restaurant that my recently-broken-up-friend recommended.

Story behind how he got to know the restaurant:

One day I was walking and I saw an old man sweeping the streets. He looked at me and I looked at him. Like this. Simulates weird staring motions. He said 안녕하세요 (hello) and I said 안녕하세요. Then the old man told me to come into his store, so I said okay and went in. He was so kind. Warning: friend not the best at telling stories but has many funny stories due to all the weird shit he does.

We went past a few love motels and got to an inconspicuous store front with a Chinese sign. We were greeted by an elderly couple about 1000 years old.

Sides of pickled radish, black bean sauce, and raw onions.

The menu. We ordered the black bean noodles and fried sweet and sour pork. We asked for a larger portion of noodles for the two of us (and it came at no extra cost!).

I wouldn't say the food tasted any different from that of other Chinese restaurants in Korea, but it was cheap and filling.

Afterwards we spotted an awesome shirt. Hello indeed. 😂

We passed the time at coin karaoke. 1000 won for three songs. A small price to pay for drowning one's sorrows.

A classic. Backstreet Boys. LOL.

Have an awesome weekend and happy fooding!
