ABQ Reviews: The Farmacy

in food •  6 years ago

The Farmacy is a lovely little restaurant, right off Central Avenue in Albuquerque, NM. It is the type of restaurant I have spent years looking for: ample outdoor seating, baristas who know how to make a good latte, plenty of vegetarian menu options, and ingredients that are sourced locally. Not to mention a cute, clean, and cozy interior and some of the sweetest, most attentive wait staff I've met.

Everything about The Farmacy is perfect, except for the food, that is. Perhaps this was a one off, as most of their reviews rave about the perfect plates of flavorful food. My experience was different. My waffles were undercooked to the point of being doughy, the sandwich of my compadre, while expertly crafted and uniquely compiled, was lacking in whatever it is that makes a sandwich unforgettable.

What a pity, as the menu is full of interesting combinations that seem to hint at endless gastronomic adventures, like waffles topped with baked brie and berry compote, or a green chile cheese biscuit smothered in gravy. When first faced with the menu, I couldn't decide, everything looked mouthwatering.

Despite my initial visit being marred by excessively undercooked waffles, I think I'd like to try eating at the Farmacy again. I was so taken by the great atmosphere, excellent service, and inventive menu that I'm willing to see if my next experience can prove my first one to be an anomaly of an otherwise great restaurant.

And if not, at least the coffee is great.

I LIKE THE PHOTO OF THE COFFEE, IT IS APPRECIATED THAT IN THAT PLACE THEY HAVE GOOD BARISTS AND VERY PROFESSIONALS IN THE ART OF PREPARING A RICH AND GOOD COFFEE, WHERE ONE CAN RELAX, EXCELLENT POST.

That waffle looks incredible. It's a shame that it was undercooked and doughy. Probably a good idea to give them a second try, maybe it was just an off day for the cook staff.
