Why do I Dumpster Dive?

  • Bring awareness on how much food is wasted with our current system...
  • Save the abundance of food that is wasted and share it...
  • Minimizing costs enabling me to be less dependant on Fiat and can Power Up 100%...
  • Great regular exercise and good karma... ;)

Thursdays Weekly Meet-ups:

We meet up on Thursdays in the middle of the city to share the food we've saved during the week. It's a great way to meet, connect and support each other. We meet between 6-7 pm at the same time as the decentralized farmers market that I've initiated!

dividerblue.png

I regularly invite friends over to share the abundance of food, been doing it for many years but now I also of course make sure to introduce them to the Steem blockchain! ;)

This is impressive and depressing at the same time. I am impressed by your resourcefulness and depressed at what might have all been thrown out if you hadn't salvaged it! I was wondering how all of that meat stayed good, and then I saw what you were wearing and figured it's probably rull cold there!
I love this! I do something similar with furniture that people put outside their homes to be taken to the dump. I refurbish it and either donate it or sell it. Isn't is such an amazing feeling to save something usable from being thrown away? I also find it's such a rush each time not knowing what I will find. This is so cool. Keep up the good work!

Good work and to a great cause!

Subarasii
This is great! I lived on the street for a couple years and ate quite a bit of "garbage", a few months ago a friend gifted us a gigantic brick of gouda cheese from a local cheese dumpster. Just had to cut the mold off whenever we wanted to use some, I think there may still be a brick somewhere in the pantry. Kinda scary to consider what it looks like now. I am feeling inspired after seeing this, I foolishly spend most of my income on food when i have work lately.. I could at least forage for non parishables, besides the practical aspect, binning is a ton of fun.
Arigato gozimasu! Followed you, looking forward to more of your expiditions.

This act is really outta this world. I haven't seen this kind of stuff in my whole life
Yeah i know of charity and foundation but this, nah nah!! This is good and really helping humanity because food is energy and it keep people alive to search for their long time daily bread. Food keeps people on the street begging, makes people illegal and all kinds, but ere is much more in stock for free..man you are a good Samaritan. God bless your effort and sure you got a nice dog too😊 am a lover of dogs so dont mind me. Just keep the good works on and keep people alive as you keep them hope to live. Countries
Citizens should try and keep this in practice and introducing them to the steem block chain is the best, making money on their own so they dont live on bread alone
.good job man👏👏👏👏

Mate, that's an impressive haul.

I've always been fascinated by dumpster diving. The food that people collect is just insane.

It really does highlight just how wasteful our society can be.

I'm curious though, how long will that Norway Lobster last? It looks incredible but I'd be concerned for its shelf life.

Well done on your mission! What you're doing takes real dedication.

It's expiry date is tomorrow so will have to try to get it out to people ASAP! :D

Absolutely, or eat it all yourself :P

I freaking love lobster.

This is a really selfless thing that you're doing.
I pray you get support and assistance everywhere/everything you need it.

thank you seems like support is coming our way!:D

unhappy to see that much meals has been thrown down when it can be donated to someone neeedy..incredible attempt performed by means of you ! and yes lizzy is so adorable.

Good food

I'm currently in military and one thing that shocked me at first was the ammount of food that gets wasted. Thankfully things have improved, but years ago even underpayed kitchen workers couldnt take any left overs home and it was dumped.

Brings me back to a time when the nearly expired milk would be poured down the drain by the ton, feasts for a king rotting in the dumpster for months, poor and broke bums would be told to turn and run, but for what? So the landfills could keep filling up? Much respect to youREKA I have found it!

Wow have a nice movements and enjoy full i wish one day i will with you in these movements haha😉😉

Excellent post, interesting photos. Godspeed!

hehehe thank you!:D

One day we will run out food, is what keeps us alive, we need food
there are peoples that are working more than 10 hours a day to earn a plate food and share it with their family!!!
DONT WASTE FOOD!

agreed man...we are learning slowly though;)

Wow!!! Great, man! Keep us posted.

I appreciate this effort. I stay in India where we need to incorporate some strategy to avert hunger issues, but the problem isn't finished with feeding them, the real thing is employing them and making them realize their purpose towards humanity and nature.

Shall be a tough ride but will be an amazing effort. Not a one man job, a team is needed

its looks like very lovely food..so thanks...good job

Another great haul my friend. Save some of that lobster for my dog hehe. Love your work bro keep it up and may the steem be with YOU! Peace and respect.

your dog eats lobster?:D

I don't know really......but he loves prawns and fish :)

I have done some dumpster diving in the past as well. I have some friends in Whistler, BC too, and they had gotten the supermarkets on board with actually giving them the waste there. They were making and selling salsas!! They said I could have a job with them doing that any time, but responsibility keeps me close to my son. I haven't been on a dumpster diving mission in about three/four months now, and it's lovely to be reminded of the fact there is so much waste... maybe I should start doing this again... :O great post @reko definitely going to follow you now~

Amazing and inspiring as always. I will always upvote.

All food photos fascinating but this post show me that Lizzy and I have the same behaviour in bath. )

what is that?:D

donating food to the poor homeless is a great virtue , here in my area when some affected by flood we people who can help them donate food and cloths. You also doing good job, thanks!

Coconut water is good

yes, but coconut water, when it goes off is one of the worst things a human can ever have the stomach churning misfortune to smell! ... at least its easy to tell if its still safe though, post rubbish-rid rescue! :D

sad to check that abundant food has been thrown down once it may well be given to somebody neeedy..great effort done by you . All food photos fascinating
there are a lot of peoples that are operating over ten hours each day to earn a plate food and share it with their family!!!

Thats a lot of treasures. Its quite surprising that people could discard such a large volume of valuables

@reko what you are doing is just so greatly needed in this times. I published an article in which I stressed on the need to curb hunger in the midst of plenty and as I wrote your work came up in my head and I mention it. Thanks for doing this bro!

The freegan life, yes! So much food goes to waste!

your work is inspiring bro i wish you achieve your goal soon you worked hard i like hardworking people . who is the lady in the photo?

wow, where are you?
you get some great scores!
would love to go diving with you sometime!
I'm in Humboldt county, CA!
wanna burn one and go find some food?!

In Australia, sadly, recovery of food from waste on a personal mission is a not really possible- locks are present on most rubbish-rid's at the major supermarket chains, which are basically a two player oligopoly. That said, we do have organisations who are partnered with the supermarkets, t be authorised to come and pick up surplus food, and redistribute it to community houses, charities and other places of need. http://www.ozharvest.org/ is one such organisation. The http://lentilasanything.com/ community restaurant is one such recipient... and the food is amazing. It's also a great place to volunteer your time!

great action, great conscience and better heart!

Wooow so much food 😂😂😂😂

Your dumpster shopping is way better than some persons supermarket trash.

This is a really wonderful thing that you're doing.
I pray for you get support and assistance all you need it.

This is incredible. The work that you are doing is truly admirable -- not just of all the food you're salvaging, but also spreading awareness with others. Keep up the great work!

So cool :) Where I life there is a small community of foodsharing. They work together with local supermarkets and restaurant to pick up food that would normally go to the trash. Some of my friends do not need to go grocery shopping ever. They live from saved food just like you.

It is amazing how much food is wasted . I remember when i was a teenager i worked in a local grocery store. The pizza section the freezer went out for a few hours. The guy said all of the pizzas had to go to the dumpster . We took 2 full truck loads of pizza There was absolutely nothing wrong with them to the dumpster.
This guy would have found more gold if he would have been there that day .

I love what you are doing. I've lived years on the Canarian Islands, a big part living without money, but never got hungry. We did the same and several supermarkets had no problem with it. I saw in France now it is forbidden to trhow food away. Keep on going brother.

Other than the meat and dairy - wowzers you've taken this to a new level. I've gone dumpster diving in Norway but I've never had as much luck as you!

Waww... how long you will not go out of the house?
Amazing . .

Amazing effort!! Thanks for sharing.

OMG...
AMAZING...

Hello! much respect and a follow to you!.Here at spain some of the big markets at least the one i have nearby, has a lock door deposit to store all the "garbage" till before midnight when the trash truck comes and pick it all up... , today i saw in the same place a different truck park in front of that deposit around 1pm, it was a food recycle truck, first time i see one lol and i think they still trow the food, but seems that now they help the environment, that is what the truck says, lol, keep it up! the loot is epic! otherwise it is wasted :) . Take care! and cya around here :)

Another huge haul! Why can't the stores/markets just put the outdated foods in boxes (they have plenty from stocking the shelves) and you or someone else designated drive around and pick it up? That would be easier for you and the stores. They don't have to haul it out to the bin...

Here in the Philippines, it is frowned upon to have left overs on your plate. But it is sad to see people throwing untouched packaged food down the trash.
