Yummy breakfast-2 : palak khichdi

Hii friends,

Today we will learn how to prepare one more yummy breakfast and that is Palak Khichdi.
You can have this recipe as both breakfast and lunch depends on you but i prefer to go for as a breakfast.

This is an Indian cuisine and i want to know how you people feel about this one, so Learn this recipe today and try it for tomorrow and give me your feed back.

INGREDIENTS

For pressure cooking:

  1. ½ cup rice washed
  2. ½ cup moong dal washed
  3. ¼ tsp turmeric / haldi
  4. 3 cup water

For khichdi:

  1. 1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
  2. 1 tsp cumin / jeera
  3. 2 pods cardamom
  4. 1 inch cinnamon
  5. 1 bay leaf / tej patta
  6. 1 dried red chilli
  7. ½ onion finely chopped
  8. ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
  9. 1 green chilli slit
  10. 1 tomato finely chopped
  11. handful palak / spinach leaves
  12. 1 cup water
  13. 1 tsp salt.

Time

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Total time taken: 25 minutes

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1:

firstly, in a pressure cooker take ½ cup rice and ½ cup moong dal.

STEP 2:

add ¼ tsp turmeric and 3 cup water.

STEP 3:

pressure cook for 5 whistles or till rice and moong dal gets cooked well. keep aside.

STEP 4:

further in a kadai heat 1 tbsp ghee and saute 1 tsp cumin, 2 pods cardamom, 1 inch cinnamon, 1 bay leaf and 1 dried red chilli.

STEP 5:

also saute ½ onion, till they turn slightly golden.

STEP 6:

additionally, saute ½ tsp ginger garlic paste and 1 green chilli.

STEP 7:

furthermore, add 1 tomato and saute till the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.

STEP 8:

now prepare palak puree by taking a handful of palak leaves in a blender.

STEP 9:

blend to smooth paste adding water as required.

STEP 10:

transfer the palak puree and cook for 5 minutes or till palak changes colour.

STEP 11:

further, add pressure cooked rice and moong dal.

STEP 12:

also, add 1 cup water and 1 tsp salt.

STEP 13:

mix well adjusting consistency as required.

STEP 14:

simmer and boil for 5 minutes or till khichdi absorbs palak flavour.

STEP 15:

finally, serve palak khichdi hot topped with more ghee if required.
