Food In Japan: Le Repas Bakery Mouth Watering!

in food •  7 years ago

Le Repas is a delicious bakery chain in Tokyo. I clearly remember the first time my wife took me there for a snack about 15 years ago. I ordered a sausage, similar to a hot dog, in a croissant style bun and she ordered this gigantic slice of toast with honey on it. Both were fantastic and complex in flavor, light on the sweetness and cooked to perfection. Since that day many years ago we've been a customer.

You can pick up just about any type of white or french bread there in a plethora of flavors, from egg or sausage or both to curry pan to fluffy blueberry muffins to maple syrup toast, it's heaven to be honest and reasonably priced.

I ended up walking out last night with the following:

  • Top left french toast.
  • Top right custard creme filled croissant (mine!)
  • Center left chocolate sprinkled doughnut
  • Center right maple pancake with whipped cream
  • Bottom left thick french toast
  • Bottom right maple syrup toast

Total was about $8.50 and so worth it. While they may look sweet, but they are only semi-sweet which allows room for the flavor of the bread itself as well as the other ingredients. Texture is also great.

If you're in Tokyo you have to try this place. It can be found at most Keio train stations throughout the city. I recommend any of the sausage combinations or the curry pan. Le Repas website.
