Simple healthy smoothie recipe!steemCreated with Sketch.

Alright, I'm going to come clean. This is probably going to irk some of you but I can't go on keeping it a secret... I'm vegan.

I have been for almost 10 years now. I made the transition at the tender age of 17 - before it was cool. I just wish I'd caught the Bitcoin wave as early as I caught the vegan one lol! Anyway, besides my cycling blogs I thought you might appreciate some of what I fuel my adventures with, so here goes...

I'm actually not eating at my best right now so maybe if I make myself post some of the things I'm eating to the public then it might motivate me to cook healthier and more interesting things. I used to do it all the time when I was younger and I look back on those days wishing I was still as pumped up about getting the good sh*t in me.

Today, I had some bananas in the freezer so I decided to smash them up with some other yummy things. Wait until your bananas get spotty (this means they are sweeter, have more available nutrition and are easier to digest) then find some freezer bags, peel them and stick them in the freezer. You'll now be able to store them for a while and have nice, chilled smoothies and desserts!

Ingredients (and their benefits):

~ Frozen bananas (potassium, duh)
~ Fresh strawberries (some good red stuff)
~ Fresh dates (natural sweetener)
~ Flax, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame seed & goji berry blend (omega-3's and minerals)
~ Maca powder (probably makes you more like a warrior)
~ Brazil nuts (selenium)
~ Chia seeds (omega-3's)
~ Ginger powder (anti-oxidants)
~ Cocoa nibs (anti-oxidants and a nice crunch)
~ Rice milk (better than cow boobie juice)

I stuffed everything except the cocoa nibs into the blender. It's really worth investing in something large and sturdy. A good quality blender will go along way. Usually I use hemp milk because it's jam-packed full of omega-3 essential fats, is low-impact on the environment and tastes the best. However, I had some spare rice milk lying around so threw that in. It came out to a pleasant thick consistency. Some people make 'nice cream' with a similar technique, just less milk, and you can eat it with a spoon out of a bowl. A refreshing 1.5 litre (50 fl oz) treat for my body on a warm summer's day.

What is your favourite healthy ingredient to add to smoothies?

You weren't wrong lol!

Reppin' a Bitcoin tee like a crypto savage.

Yeah buddy! Someone actually took a photo of it at some vegan restaurant I was at the other day. They were like "Oh, my boyfriend is really into Bitcoin, he'd love this t-shirt!" lol
