Hello Steemians!
What will you say for an ice cream dessert with... corn and beans? ๐จ๐ฎ
Are you surprised by this sweet combination?
And the Malaysians simply love them!
So today you will find out what is the most popular dessert in Malaysia!
Because I love everything sweet, the local desserts impressed me the most.
And more precisely, the different types of one of them - the ABC.
The name is an acronym for Air Batu Campur, which means "mixed ice".
You can also order this dessert under the local name โIce kacangโ, which means "bean ice". ๐
It is a traditional Malaysian dessert, which has been eaten by the local people for many years.
The base of the dessert is crushed ice, which is more like fluffy snow than frozen water. The texture is a result of the special technique of "shaving" the ice, which is still done manually in many places.

The traditional version of the dessert contains a mixture of red beans, sweet corn purรฉe, jelly, peanuts, rose water, palm sugar and a condensed cow or coconut milk on the top.

You can choose from a whole set of sprinklers, toppings and other add-ons.
Bowls can also be decorated with flavoured ice cream or fruits.
I also ate a version with durian - a controversial fruit from Asia, which is known for its unpleasant smell. However, here in Ipoh, it smells tempting and surprises with excellent taste.
The dessert is very refreshing, which is extremely pleasant during the hot Malaysian day.
It also looks incredibly colourful and exotic.
I am curious what you think about the way it is presented?

I tried different versions of these ice bowls and each one tasted great!
At first I was surprised to see corn and beans in the dessert but I have to admit that their sweet taste is really pleasant.

If you will visit Ipoh, I recommend you to walk along Sultan Ekram Street.
You will find here many places with delicious food. It is also the place where I ate some of the tastiest "beans ice cream" in town.

Or maybe you know some other similar sweets? :)
