So its early in the morning and what do you eat...hmmmmm.. lets check the cupboard. Top Ramen, Wow my only option. To a university student living on a shoe string budget Ramen soup is life. but for a thirty year old chef .....well. Coming from an Asian family far away from China (our home land) our taste buds are inclined naturally to love noodles and soups and veggies. Hey if it ramen we got it's ramen we are gonna cook. with Asian blood coursing through my veins it was time to chef up this bad boy and gourmet the F**k out of this. With a quick shuffle through my fridge I came across a few item and began the the creation of my masterpiece .
Water was boiling and ginger was the first to enter the flavor race, quickly some spinach was added to the boil followed by the ramen noodles, a little oyster sauce for added flavor and sesame seed oil for scent. Just at the end two eggs were cracked and gently placed on top and fire turned off..we were approaching the finish line and this is where the style and flare came into play..with grated carrots and black olives added the steaming hot God like creation was done and with a few minutes to cool the soup, all the flavors came together or as Trinidadians would say "koo-shoe-meh" dont know how to spell it but thats how its pronounced, simply our local term for marinate..
So my soup was done eggs nice and soft waiting for it soft skin to be ripped open and the yummy yolk to mix with all the flavors.Oh my that first spoon was like heaven to my mouth..the extra crunch of the carrots and pickled taste of the black olives we just amazing. The distinct smell of the sesame seed oil just woke the Asian in me. My morning was now complete and there was nothing i could ask for again. the perfect start to a perfect day...
