Tampoi (Baccaurea macrocarpa) 单贝果

in food •  7 years ago

Time to get weird again Steemians!!! Leave it to Jared Rydelek aka Weird Explorer to do yet another video reviewing a fruit you've probably never seen nor heard of before. This time it's Tampio also known by bontanist as Baccaurea macrocarpa.

Tampoi, is a somewhat small, rainforest substorey fruit tree native to Southeast Asia, most concentrated to Borneo. Like the Jaboticaba it is dioecious meaning the trees bear fruit directly on large branches and the trunk. It's large fruit is orange-skinned, with white flesh, and it's tangy flavor is said to be somewhat citrus like similar to tangerine. The fruit is nutrient rich in copper, maganese, iron, and zinc. Have you tasted this fruit before or would you try it if given the chance? Let us know what your thoughts are by replying down below.
