Today my dad's friends treated us to 6 course meal at an upscale restaurant in Canberra called Lilotang. It opened in 2015 and is run by a Japanese chef.
The beef oyster blade braised in soy sauce had a hint of spice on top. The beef was very tender and the vegetables went well with it.
The grilled chicken with Kyoto style pickle sauce and tarragon was my favorite. The chicken was juicy and the pickle sauce gave it a nice Japanese flavor.
The green tea soba noodles were nice and cold. Very suitable for a hot 40 degree day like today.
The slow-cooked pork belly with mustard miso and cucumber salsa was not as tasty as the other two meat dishes but a nice appetizer.
The raddichio and grapefruit salad was fresh and the wasabi mascarpone gave it a special twist.
The rare cheesecake with sakura gel and dried cherry ended the meal on a lovely sweet note. It wasn't too big or overly sweet.
The waiter explained everything very clearly and the service was attentive. It was a pleasant lunch.
