New Foods and Experiences - Figs! Nothing like Fig Newtons

Try it you'll like it!

I cut it open and saw a backwards strawberry. Here goes nothing.

Last night I was testing the back up and restore of core Dash wallets before I pull my dash from an aging phone. I steep-shotted it out to you all as I did. Being able to twitter-tell my Steemit followers what's happening from my phone with Steep Shot is pretty cool, but I really like to do standard posts with a footer and all too.

Fig Tree Story

Having been up late last night, I woke with the kind of hunger that won't allow cooking -a huge NOW in my stomach. So I grabbed a fig out of the fridge - bought fresh the other day. I really like to try new things. Variety is the spice of life.

There were a variety of snacks it the house when I was growing up and one of them was the fig newton. I didn't care for them much. I could never finish a pack. They are kind of like fudge -eat one or two pieces and you are good. Fresh figs on the other hand are awesome.

Nothing like strawberries. I would say they are a mix of melon and pear in taste. The texture is more like that of an avocado. If you don't like strawberry seeds you can avoid the middle of the fig. It has some seeds but not an annoying amount of them.

I am am not sure if people usually eat the skin or not. I quartered them and ate the centers down the the skin as you would with an orange. Anyone know a better way? Comment below.

This post was created with Steep Shot though I like the immediacy of it. Thanks to everyone who shares my day!

Thank you for posting @sponge-bob.

Lovely photograph....very fresh indeed.

Enjoyed reading your description of the fig.

Eating the fig's skin with the rest of it..... if the skin has not yet become leathery....is very nice.....cut into quarters lengthwise as one would a pear served with cheese makes a striking presentation.

Thank you for the reminder of the lovely fig.

Cheers.

Wow. That's the second suggestion to eat them with cheese. Now you are making me go out and get more.

"Variety is the spice of life." best lines of your blog....your posts are really unique and the way you put things into your story are just awesome..check out i posted a meme on my blog hope you will love it....

Newtons are tasty I ate them a lot in Venezuela before communism.

you almost always manage to do two things in your posts, teach something new and share a unique perspective for example in this post saying "Variety is the spice of life." you are totally right, gotta try many different things to find that uniqueness in life.

And then you have that "Steep Shot" that I didn't know anything about and seems extremely sexy haha now I gotta download it.

Thanks for sharing!

Actually, I eat basically the whole thing. Here's a recipe I shared on my food blog a while ago that combines them with ham and goats cheese.

I like the freshness of fresh figs, but I tend to use the dried ones in recipes. I can't always get them fresh at the store either way.

That looks awesome. I used to be on word press but I hate ads so much that I didn't want to subject anyone I knew with them. Now I know why your work here is so nice, as well as the ideas for your creations. You are a pro!

Me- I just snap and write what comes to mind.

Speaking of fresh. I just started making my chili with fresh tomatoes and those skids are wrecking the whole thing. Canned taste horrible now that I have had fresh, but the thought of peeling tomatoes is more work than soaking and flavoring my beans from hard as rock.

I actually started on Wordpress when I decided I wanted to blog about food and games. Not long after that, I found Steemit and slowly started to do less and less on my Wordpress blog. Steemit is just more interesting for me right now, because I enjoy branching out. The food blog is now just a nice place to store all of my recipes! No pro at all though, I just like to share my hobbies :D

Oh yes, fresh usually does taste a whole lot better, but it can be much more work. I try to find a good balance there. Use a lot of fresh foods, but I'll cheat a bit with canned tomatoes and beans!

No canned beans where I live. No chili to speak of either. I have to soak them, boil them and then add spice. Then I can them for the next three or four batches.

I love figs and use them as food replacement in their season. I can eat alot of them in one day. I tried that type of biscuits. It is also available in my country and we have it also with dates. Love it with coffee!
Strawberries are the best, but I find cherries also nice in biscuits or cakes.
Thank you for sharing :)

I will definitely try this. I love melon and pear, so this should be my favorite :))

These are the figs and strawberries of the delicious fruit. It is really a good fruit, but the avocado I consider it my special meal, really in the middle of last night I had dinner on it after it was prepared to remove the skin and the seed from it and sprinkle it with a little green pepper and a little lemon juice and salt, In the bowl and put olive oil on it, it's delicious and I'm having it for my favorite meal.
Thanks you for sharing,
good luck my dear friend @sponge-bob

I don't eat the skins. Fig Newtons are delicious though!

Never tried it out looks cool :D

It looks really cool though.never tried the newton though !

It I s intresting to know how well you like fresh fig . Well in my country it is not always easy to get fresh fig. Thus it is very cost to buy. Well, because of it nutritional value and refreshing taste many can't removed it completely from their diet.

FIG fruit is the fruit comes from heaven. Thats true !

Excellent variety in your blog friend I love this post mu interesting vary will always be positive, I invite you to go through my blog, greetings extraordinary success your blog

Nice to meet you @sponge-bob. I usually could only find dry figs. I never saw a fresh fig. I don't know how to go about eating it. But definitely you made a good move backing with getting a "real" wallet. That will take forever to sync. Haha

P.S. I don't know anything about Steep Shot

Hey, nice to meet you too. I never saw fresh figs before either. Then one day I noticed them when I was with a friend and I asked what it was. The blockchain download is a drag times two. I am not comfortable with only one working wallet.

I'm using Exodus but there are a limited amount of currencies there. If I had a ton of crypto I would use the nano wallet. My favorite wallet is the HODL coin wallet. It is freaky but the coin is not very valuable. Everyday there is a quote from Nutashi Sakamoto the Squirrel. It is a riot. Whatever you do, don't watch the wallet syncing. I think Sponge-bob will get his drivers license before some wallets sync.

Strangely enough, this @sponge-bob doesn't have a drivers license even though I did at one time and drove for a living.

Welcome to the world of figs. They are delicious. And you're right, they're nothing like Fig Newtons (although I like those too). As some of the other commenters have said, yes, you can eat the skin. There's nothing like a nice, fresh fig...especially if you can get one right off the tree!
