The Castle Restaurant

I visited The Castle Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur with two of my friends for dinner. It's an Arabic restaurant that is actually shaped like a castle. As it is located in KL, get ready to park at the side of the road, unless you want to pay for parking that is. We sat outside and the seating is actually rather comfortable. It was of course slightly noisy due to the traffic on the road but we didn't mind it as we wanted to shisha as well. I forgot to take pictures of the menu, but don't worry as you can easily find their menu online.

While we were waiting for our food to arrive, we ordered a double apple mint shisha and was busy chatting. We ordered the hummus and tahinah to share among ourselves, I ordered the mandi chicken whilst my friends had the mandi lamb and kabssa lamb. When our food was served to us, it was actually a really cute sight to me as it was served on a plastic cart.

The hummus was okay. The flavour of it was so-so, I felt like it was very plain and needed to be seasoned more. The mandi chicken I ordered however was delicious. The chicken was so flavourful, tender and delicious. The meat could easily be torn away from the bone. The rice was amazing and fragrant. It was yummy enough to eat on its own. I tried both of my friends food as well. The mandi lamb was amazingly tender and it was deliciously seasoned as well. Sadly the kabssa lamb wasn't as good as the mandi lamb. The kabssa lamb tasted alright but just wasn't as flavourful as the other one.

The portions were actually really large. My chicken was basically half of a chicken, the mandi lamb was a large piece wrapped with aluminium foil at the end and the kabssa lamb had many slices. The rice served were a large generous amount. You might not be able to notice how big the portions are in the photos as the food was served on really large plates. All of us was given, a what I would assume is a lamb soup with our meals. The soup was honestly really delicious and flavourful. But it must be drunk while it's still hot as when it turns cold it tastes really salty. Our total bill was RM140, it includes service charge and the RM20 shisha. It was really pricey but still kinda worth it as the portions were large. I didn't even manage to finish mine and packed the leftovers.
