I'll admit it, I'm a bit of a fast food junky. However, I've had that kind of stamped out of me by living in Thailand. With the exception of McDonalds, the fast food restaurants over here are.. not.. the same. I dunno how to explain it. KFC is probably the worst offender. The chicken is horrible, and I feel sick to my stomach any time I slip up and decide to order a bucket of Colonel Sander's secret recipe chicken.. Whatever the secret is, perhaps he forgot to tell his Siamese counterparts, because they have NOT figured it out.
Burger King is too ridiculously expensive to even justify a second look at the menu. And McDonalds.. well. It's McDonalds.. and that's it.. at least in the area that I live in.. those are you fast food choices..
So you can imagine my surprise when, while on my latest trip to Bangkok, I stumbled across...
~ Taco Bell ~
I had heard the news from someone, somewhere at some time that they were opening a Taco Bell in BKK, but to be honest, I had completely forgot, since the city of Angels is far far from the part of Thailand that I reside in. So, I was flabbergasted when walking through the first floor of Siam Paragon Mall, I saw the bright lights of TexMex glory.
It was probably about 10am, and we had had breakfast already, but I didn't care. I immediately grew hungry enough to drag my family in for a second breakfast/early lunch. A TexMex Brunch. I'm happy to say they had all they usual fare I've come to know and love from Taco Bell. Crunchy Gorditas, Stuffed Burritos, Cheesy Stacked Nachos. And the prices were very reasonable! We ordered one of each.
This was the first time my wife and sons had tried Taco Bell, and I was a bit nervous that it could be another KFC catastrophe. However, the first zesty bit assuaged any fear I may have had. This was the Taco Bell that I knew and loved, spent so many late night college nights hunting down. My family was instantly hooked. Everything was devoured in a matter of seconds!
In fact, I should probably wrap this up, I'm getting hunger pangs just looking at the pictures. But suffice to say, Taco Bell has landed in Thailand, and while it's only in the Big Mango at the moment, that's probably a good thing, for my wallet and my waist.
At least we have a new go-to dining place when visiting the capital city. If you are traveling through Bangkok and looking for a taste of home. You can't go wrong with Taco Bell in Siam Paragon Mall. It's the real deal!
👍
I’m surprised Taco Bell made it out there

I'm equally as surprised, but not complaining! :)
