The Internet is full of food claims, which are actually just myths passing from generation to generation.

Carrots give you the ability to see in the dark

No matter how much we want to gain superpowers, this can not be done by simply eating carrots. The myth was born in World War II when rumors that British pilots could see in the dark thanks to a healthy diet consisting mainly of carrots.
Rumors were actually so widespread that they were even used as a form of propaganda. While allegations of dark vision are not true, carrots contain a solid dose of vitamin A that your body uses to synthesize the pigment in the eye that is used in Poor illumination. Which means that if you have vitamin A deficiency, seeing in the dark may be difficult for you. Carrot consumption solves this problem, but only to an extent equivalent to the average person's vision. Unfortunately, it seems that superhuman night vision only exists in the comic book world.

The chewing gum remains in the stomach for seven years

Beware, do not swallow your chewing gum that will stay in your stomach for years.

This is a phrase many of us have heard, spoken by anxious parents, while we have made bubbles, and we have chewed our gums noisily. Fortunately, it's just a myth.
The idea that any substance could stand for years in your stomach is extremely strange: imagine what damage it would cause to your body. Whatever nutrient we absorb, it decomposes and separates as excrement to days - most foods dissolve in hours and gum is no exception to this rule. Pediatrician-gastroenterologist David Milov told Scientific American that "with absolute confidence, it can be said that gum does not remain in the body for seven years.

If she actually stayed there for so long, it would mean that every person who has ever swallowed gum in the last seven years has traces of it in her digestive system." Sometimes we see the swallowed chewing gum, but it's usually not swallowed more than a week ago.

Yes, all those years you've been worried about the piece of gum you accidentally swallowed when you were 7 years old were absolutely unnecessary.

Sugar makes children hyperactive

Regardless of the fact that the piece of birthday cake throws your child into a sugar-induced fury of bad behavior, science just can not confirm that. In 1994, a double "blind study" found that eating foods containing sugar did not affect the behavior or cognitive skills of children. Another study found no relationship between sugar and hyperactivity, and a study entitled The Effect of Expectations of Swallowing Sugar on Mother-Child Relations found that parents are more likely to claim that their children are hyperactive, even if given Sugar was actually a placebo.

There are many reasons why you should not let your child go over with cakes, biscuits, and chocolates, but the phrase "sugar bloom" is not among them.

If you eat the seeds of the watermelon, they can grow into your stomach

It's a myth in which we DO NOT expect to believe anyone over the age of 5 but in any case ...
The lack of oxygen and sunlight will not allow any kind of seed you swallow to grow into your stomach. In fact, the watermelon seeds are very good for health because they contain potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, and zinc.

The crowns of bread will make your hair curly

One of my stranger myths is the idea that eating bread crumbs will make your hair curly. Whether you have curly hair or does not entirely depend on the genes. A diet rich in breadcrumbs - or any food in fact - will not change your genetic structure.
The exact origin of this strange myth still remains unknown, but some believe that it originated about 300 years ago in Europe when curly hair was seen as a symbol of good health and prosperity. Those who could afford to eat well were generally healthier, so people began to think that bread and curly hair were connected to each other.

Hopefully, you do not believe in such fools. According to the typical Bulgarian superstition, eating crumbs is a parchment - what can a man believe ?!

Eating cheese at bedtime will cause you nightmares

If you have believed on Charles Dickens, forget it! In the Christmas song, Scrooge still blames the ghosts for "eating cheese crumbs" before bedtime.

If you are not sure how this is a myth, the British Cheese Manufacturers Association has tested the theory and found no convincing link between eating cheese at bedtime and increasing nightmare dreams.

White chocolate is chocolate

Many have spent their entire lives believing that sweet milky white bits of happiness, known as "white chocolate," are real chocolate. But we have to disappoint you: you are wrong.
To be defined as chocolate, it must contain cocoa particles or liquid cocoa mass. White chocolate, on the other hand, contains cocoa butter instead. Why can it be called chocolate at all?
The European Union has adopted a policy of containing 20% cocoa butter, 14% dry milk, 3.5% milk fat and no more than 55% sugar content, the resulting product can be sold as "white chocolate".

Your steak drops blood when you cut it

It's easy to understand why many are jumping shocked at the conclusion that the steak is running blood when you cut it, but it is not.
In fact, all the blood from the meat has been removed when slaughtered. The red liquid you see on your plate is actually water mixed with a protein called myoglobin.

Carbohydrates make you gain weight

pasta-503952_960_720.jpg

We all have friends who swear by a 'carbohydrate diet', but research has shown that not all carbohydrates have a negative impact on weight.
The myth of carbohydrates leading to fattening is based only on "refined carbohydrates". Refined carbohydrates are present in foods such as potatoes, pasta, and white bread.
Weight gain can happen if you combine fat and refined carbohydrates, as this leads to an increase in blood sugar and the production of insulin from the body, which contributes to thickening.
On the other hand, complex carbohydrates - like legumes and whole grain bread - are an excellent source of energy, and after eating, you feel better for longer, which means you eat less food within the day.
So do not completely deny carbohydrates - not all carbohydrates are bad.
