Street Food & Rum Punch at a Bazar Labrin Market in Beau Vallon

in food •  7 years ago  (edited)

Pineapple, chili and pork served in chapati, a salty pancake made by a local grandma, served at a gorgeous tropical beach. Yesterday was the best day yet at the Seychelles. Although I thought the same thing the day before...

I love street food! And I definitely love African cuisine.
When I visited Kenya, I fell in love with chapatis. A chapati is a salty or at least not sweet pancake.

And when @laivi and I visited an African bazar yesterday and we saw that one of the vendors were selling chapati we knew we had to pick that one.

It doesn’t look very exciting, but trust me, inside this dull colored pancake there’s a taste explosion waiting to happen.

This market lets all locals sell what the make at home.
We tasted delicious starfruit, passion fruit, banana chips and least but not least, chapati with pork and pineapple! It’s safe to say that my tastebuds were insanely happy yesterday!

While waiting on the food, @laivi ordered rum punch for us. This lady served coconut rum, pineapple drinks and lots of refreshing drinks! We’re not spoiled with so much fresh fruit in Norway, so it’s not hard to impress us!

If you ever have the opportunity to visit a local food market, just do it!

The drinks look delicious :) sounds like an awesome time. Wish to be there!

The famous 'Bazar Labrin' , street market which is held at Beau Vallon beach, near Savoy hotel , every wednesday afternoon is not to be missed . Creole food, souvenirs, Sega dance by the fire will all make your holiday a memorable one.

The chapati with pork and pineapple sounds great!

I must say the fish off the braai looks delicious.

Wow....great photography, very nice food, beautiful post thanks

@susanne, all looks great and fresh! We came back from a trip to Ethiopia and we said to each other that we need to explore more of Africa. Seychelles has always been on the list with those islands 'just' south of it...Comoros, Mauritius and of course Madagascar. In time...

I could definitely use a cocktail and a beach right now!! That sounds pretty amazing. Street food is always kind of special in its own way. It’s made to be quick, convenient to make and convienient to eat. This post was food porn for real though....I can almost smell the food in those pictures!

wow cool, in our place very much these fruits @susanne,
thank you for sharing, I really like this friend.

Street food is one of the best things about travelling, especially since we don't have "street food culture" here in Croatia. So whenever I'm away I spend so much time exploring the local street cuisine that most of the other "regular" tourist stuff get skipped :)

yes and getting streetfood is super quick and mainly local as well. good to know more about the culture.

Ah that looks so delicious. My dream holiday location!

Great...I was lying here surfing through Steemit trying to fall asleep, but now I'm trying to imagine what a chapati tastes like.

So much for sleep. Lol

Such colorful food!! The drinks look amazing. I'm assuming they are alcohol free?

Those fish on the skewers looked pretty tasty too. Did you happen to try any of those??

The drinks were really good. Well, not the one I had. It contained homemade rum!! :o
I didn't taste the skewers, unfortunately!

Så eksotisk og så mange fine farger! Drinkene på slutten så spesielt gode ut! :)

Ja, det var fargerikt på mange måter. Tusen smaker og mange lukter. Mange nye inntrykk også!

"It doesn’t look very exciting, but trust me, inside this dull colored pancake there’s a taste explosion waiting to happen." That's awesome food writing. A taste explosion, waiting to happen, I want to use that one. Every cook aspires to have that said about their food.

It's fantastic to see you having a great time. And, I hope today and tomorrow are better yet

You are living the dream right now! I see some star fruit on that table. It is rare that we see that in the United States but once in awhile I will see it in the store.

I loved the drinks they look delicious.

Wow, looks fantastic, @susanne! I'm an Egyptian poet whose had the good fortune to travel, widely, through South America - and love exotic fruit, street food and fresh, boozy drinks by the beach, too :)

I hope you don't mind if I introduce myself, further, by saying that I'm the author of 7 books, featured on PBS NewsHour & NPR, and fairly new to Steemit.

Amazing

It is more delicious to see this in pictures just. I don't know what a lovely thing to eat actually .. @susanne In "Urdu" in pakistan we also call it Chapati. It's a very thin bread. And trust me I love it when it is made. A full big size of chapati become less for me when I go to my village and my Grand ma made this.. Really yummy and I feel it so intensely ... #stay blessed and enjoy your beautiful life..
