According To Flight Attendants, This Is Most Annoying Thing You Can Order On A PlanesteemCreated with Sketch.

People who regularly fly on airplanes are split into two categories. One group adores the airplane food, not so much for taste but more so for its uniqueness and rarity while the other group despises any sort of airline food that isn’t vacuum sealed or pre-packaged.

But what about drinks? Some prefer an alcoholic beverage while others prefer a carbonated and fizzy drink to sip on.

But according to flight attendants on their flight blog, These Gold Wings, diet coke is apparently the worst thing to order while high up in the air.

The flight attendants, on their blog, stated that diet Coke takes the longest to pour because the high altitude makes carbonated drinks foam up even more.

And these flight attendants say that Diet Coke is the worst to pour because of all the bubbles it creates and the wait time it requires for the bubbles to settle. They claim that by the time they can serve a Diet Coke, they could have fulfilled three or more other drink orders.

According to the blog: ‘pouring diet Coke is one of the biggest slowdowns in the bar service and on the shorter flights those precious seconds count!’

These flight attendants explained that Diet Coke takes the longest to pour but that doesn’t stop them from doing their job.

Their trick to dealing with this order is fully turning the can of Diet Coke upside down and then carefully pouring the liquid into the cup.

On their blog, they described how this method works: ‘the Diet Coke doesn’t come out of the can when flipped upside down until you lift it up and tilt it slightly.’

It went on to say: ‘this is because the air pressure is keeping the Coke in the can. It makes pouring the Diet Coke very controllable and reduces the chances of spilling or overflow.’

A study conducted by the Illinois State University stated that Diet Coke has a higher level of carbon dioxide than regular Coke thus making it more fizzy and carbonated. So if you’re watching your calories and really want a Diet Coke, just be patient and you will be served your drink!
