Venezuelan Empanadas.

Well, this rich recipe is now the breakfast par excellence in Venezuela, so you can't miss it.....

  • Ingredients:

  • 1 cup corn flour

  • 2 tablespoons wheat flour

  • 2 cups water

  • 3 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

In addition, you will need...

  • The stuffing of your choice... (Any stew or cheese)

Preparation:

The dough we make is almost the same as the arepas. Place the water in a bowl and add the salt and sugar, then mix the wheat flour with the corn flour and add it little by little and stir it at the same time with your hands, start kneading with your hands until it is very soft. When the dough is ready, we make a few balls, to make everything easier, well this part is a little complicated for those who are doing it for the first time but it is not difficult at all, what we will do is put an open bag on the table so that it does not get double, Now we put some oil drops in the center and spread it out, then we put one of the dough balls and start to crush it with the fingertips, trying to get the rounded shape.

Place the filling in the middle, and now take one of the ends and close the dough, to make sure it is well shaped, take a round bowl and place it on top of the dough to give it its shape (with the part of the filling inside the bowl).

When we have several lists, we heat in a frying pan enough oil, when it is very hot we place the empanadas with great care not to burn us, and we hope that they are golden brown, and ready...

Once the empanadas are prepared, they are eaten hot, usually accompanied by coffee or some natural juice. They're good for a nice breakfast and why not? but they must be eaten on the same day.
