Thereā€™s pizza on my pineapple! šŸ

Someone decided to put pizza on my pineapple and I liked it! šŸ˜

I have no idea where this combo appeared from and Iā€™m told that not everyone enjoys it. I wonder why? Is it the same burning fury that people from Chicago have when they see someone put ketchup on their hotdogs? Iā€™d love to hear an explanation.Ā

Being Italian, I feel like I'm contractually obligated to tell you that that's not how you pizza. But I also like to let people live their life XD Eat whatever the hell you like.

Theresa no! After all this time, a wedge has finally been driven between us!

I LOVE pineapple pizza T_T

Is it because pineapple is a tropical fruit? Non traditional? Or is it just the flavors? šŸ˜ I wanna knowwwwww.

I think it has to do with tradition. We can be very protective over our time-honored recipes.

I also think that it is the sweet-sour combination that works not that good to Southern European taste. North American food has furthermore a very high amount of sweet in it compared to Italian food. I think it came from the Brits...

Thereā€™s a lot of sweet/sour/savory combinations in the culture that I grew up in so that may be why I like it. šŸ˜…

Personally I tend to dislike too much sweet in my food and I never mix sweet and alcohol (bit of a bummer when I am dragged to a cocktailbar and just have to ask for a glass of straight gin :) But my countrymen love sweet food as do most North Europeans - just like North Americans.

Haha, you and I are similar there. When I used to drink I would drink things straight from the bottle. I enjoyed the kick.

Being half Italian itā€™s taboo to put pineapple on pizza haha but I know many enjoy it ā˜ŗļø I like mine with olive oil, garlic, buffalo mozzarella, basil and tomatoes- no sauce. Sounds boring but tastes super good!

Buffalo mozzarella? I donā€™t think Iā€™ve had that before. šŸ¤”

I personally think it has a nicer consistency, itā€™s mozzare from buffalos milk, you can get it st any Italian market :) sounds different but itā€™s really good! Burrata is my fave though on pizza!

Huh... I wonder if I could find that in the local co-op.

I know for sure Whole Foods has Burrata, try it with honey and pistachios and wine or on a toasted flatbread with arugula and balsamic vinegar with walnuts!

It has to be buffalo mozzarella if you want to make authentic original pizza - I lived in Italy once and Italians are very specific when it comes to traditional cuisine. I must admit that I do not fancy pineapple either, but on the other hand... I never was too concerned about what other people ate, what art they liked etc.

(I do get mad if people break the spaghetti I am going to eat though. That is not right!)

I guess if itā€™s not broke then donā€™t fix it? Hahah, I canā€™t image why someone would break the spaghetti.

Danes traditionally eat rye bread and potatoes and know as little about Italien kitchen as any. My youngest brother lives nearby and my daughters like to go visiting him (he is a very entertaining nerd) . The other day he made spaghetti for my youngest and when my eldest and I came for a cup of tea later she came up to me and whispered, full of exited indignation: "He broke the spaghetti!"

Haha, thatā€™s a sweet story.

I am Italian and I am really really really really suspicious about this.
In Italy people celebrated when the Canadian guy who invented the Hawaii pizza died, I recon around 1 year ago.

This is funny and a little sad all at the same time.

Sam Panopoulos, who was born in Greece and moved to Canada when he was 20, decided to try out pineapple on pizza in 1962 to attract customers to one of his Ontario-based restaurants. Traditonally its served with ham and cheese they called a Hawaiian pizza, after the brand of canned pineapple used on the pie.

Fun fact for the day.

No wonder they put Canadian bacon on it!!!!!

You're welcome world šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸ˜„

Hahahaha! I donā€™t remember this at all!

So tasty! Although I can't say much for my taste. I like to put mayonnaise on a lot of things because I'm gross. :D

I was once in California and asked for mayonnaise for my French Fries (which is what the French and Belgians use). The whole dinner was in uproar :)

Maybe had you used the word aioli instead of mayo, the crowd wouldn't have batted their eyes. LOL . Man, I've been doing this fries thing the European way too! I have dipped them in mayo for as long as I can remember.

I regret to say that I have completely overlooked your profile, but I really like your paintings.

And good to hear that I am not the only person in the US that has been French with my fries. In Denmark in ye ancient times when I was a small child, we only used remoulade with Fries. It is originally a spicy French variation of mayonnaise with mustard and finely chopped picles - in the Danish version very sweet like ketchup.

Uhhhh holy shart that sounds so good. I'm going to make that remoulade sometime! Thank you for your kind words! "French with my fries" ahaha that's the best.

Hahaha. I went through a mayo faze as a kid.

What is your preferred condiment these days? I have so much crap in the fridge - ponzu, an assorted variety of hot sauces (this is mostly @ghostfish 's fault) gochujang, and sriracha of course.

I don't about Gordon Ramsey but I am proud to be a mutant.

My theory is that it was invented by a stoner/foodie and was like....dude, I have this amazing idea to put the international stoner pineapple symbol on the very thing we can't get enough of!!

I watched something about interesting food combos that work... like.. hot Cheetos and milk? I dunno. I have to look it up.

wow!great food photography....

Thanks

Most welcome

Gotta say I'm a fan. This is one of those cases where tradition has to make room for new tradition.

I guess this invention isnā€™t as bad as a sushi burger. šŸ¤£

Oh. Okay. Wait. What? No. Really?

Now I understand what culinary rage is!
