Table BBQ - Toyko Japan

in food •  7 years ago

So a picture paints a thousand words and nothing shouts "EAT ME!" louder than a succulent, juicy, fresh and huge shellfish in the picture below 🤤

To continue the tales of my adventure in Tokyo, Japan, I must certainly say that the food there is to die for. I know people have talked about the radiation and potential food issues but purely from a taste and freshness standpoint, you do get the best of the best in service and quality (most of the time). It is usually the prices that are ranged and can set you back quite a bit if you are not careful.

Here, we went to a traditional table BBQ eatery and it was exciting as we walked up these narrow stairs and had to take our shoes off and put them in lockers of which our keys were worn on your wrist (like a gym, except I'm putting ON weight). We walked past the below aquarium and chose a selection of fresh seafood. Thereafter, we were led to our table.

The service I must say was exceptional and they staff were very polite and always ready to attend to your needs.

One of the highlights of the meal was this interesting crab miso mix that did not look too great but was absolutely delicious.

Nothing better to top off a wonderful meal with a local Kirin beer.

See how fresh the clams, scallops and whatever the other thing is called haha!! You had to put it on the fire and when its cooked, the corner of the shellfish "opens" up. They also give you this long probe which you can insert in to easily remove the cap of the shellfish - it tasted great!!

Here's to end off today's post with a hot trio of clams and scallops. Everything else just seems too small now... 🤔

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and thank you for journeying through my food adventure with me (reminiscing through pictures).

P.S. I reckon a restaurant like this would be massive in Perth, Western Australia - have not seen anything like it (just a few Korean BBQs but not seafood based). We do have one of the world's best and fresh seafood. Any JV partners out there? Hehe..

Thank you!!

Looks delicious, I'm a big fan of seafood and it was a pleasure going through your mouthwatering photos
And btw you're absolutely right about Australia's fresh seafood, I miss the delicious seafood platter served at Kailis in Freo

It was my pleasure as well @helios! You gotta come back sometime to Perth and we'll welcome you with open arms!

You've got a true talent.

Wow, not only does it look delicious, I am positive they are definitely delicious. Must have cost a bomb in Japan.
Wish I have the opportunity to travel there to see and if possible to eat some of them as well.
Thanks for sharing

My oh My, looks so delicious. How was the dish in crab shell? Would love to try that

Gotta be honest. I am only attracted by the beer. The flavor of shellfish and seafood are too strong for me! Especially that raw. Thank you for sharing your phenomenal experience :)

The beer was good! - Kirin and Asahi are some of Japan's many great exports :)

It looks so delish and my heart aches because I'm reminded of my seafood allergy... cries a river

The pictures and your description made it more enticing! ^^

Hi @tegoshei! Oh dear! My heart goes out to you..
Do you still attempt to eat seafood?

Fortunately, I can still eat some fish.. hihi
The last time I did was too scary. After unconsciously eating small shrimps inside a dumpling, I started catching my breath... T_T It would have been ok if only it were some rashes... xD
