Last Custard Apple (Chirimoya) of the season in my garden

in food •  7 years ago  (edited)

Called Chirimoya in spanish, this has been my preferred fruit during my childhood in Spain.
Here is a picture of the last one for the season as seen in my garden this morning, a late bloomer since the season is a month over! As a bonus this one is huge ( bigger than a big orange )!

How to eat it

The best is to wait a day or two at room temperature for the fruit to ripe (like the avocado, it should be slightly soft to the touch). Then cut it in half, and eat big chunks with a spoon, spitting the seeds ( careful, those are really tough).

Taste

This fruit really tastes like heaven on earth, it's sweet but not too sweet, and it seems like a mixture of banana, pear, strawberry and mango.

Health

In recent studies, it has been found the Chirimoya has, among it's many health benefits, anti-cancerous properties. Here i found a site that describes what amazing benefits you can find in it.

Next week i will eat this one, and wait for next season in January! Yummy

This is the first time i saw this kind of apple.
in our country Bangladesh there is a fruit named "ata" is little look like this.
In this mean time i only knew about one kind of apple :D invite us for the next season to taste this custard apple :)

My pleasure :-)

@windforce thank you for showing us a look inside your garden and introducing me to a new kind of apple!

@jerrybanfield look that one up in the markets (you should expect them from october-november to March and even april) . I promise you after you taste it it will become one of your favourites...

We call it Guyabano in the Philippines, one of my favorites. And it wasscientifically proven to help prevent or aid certain diseases.😊

Yup, cancer particularly...
The tree is also very beautiful. I hope to remember to take a pic in a few months when the leaves will grow in all their glory

And we even brew its leaves to drink. it really taste good. some says its for diabetes. Try it!😊

We call in Sour Soup and it said to help cure cancer cells.

Wrote a post about the one growing in our compound

Wow i never saw one like this! Does it taste the same as i explained here?
Also in you tree the leaves are thiner, like in a lychee tree ( i also have one lychee tree in my garden )...

It tastes the same.

Really interesting! Is it the same as sugar-apple?

Yes, that's how some call it in the US

Wow! It's called sour sop here in Nigeria. And one thing I love about it, it's the amazing taste it possess.

Yes, i saw a picture of the Nigerian version of the fruit in @chiama 's post, it's impressive!

Hi windforce, do you have Discord? I wanted to talk with you regarding your witness efforts and simply getting to know you since we are both witnesses.

My discord: windforce#7675
My witness efforts, as stated in my original witness thread, are mostly technical, i.e i want to have that server running flawlessly 24/7 for years.
Being a witness involves publishing the fact that you are a witness a lot, as well as publishing whatever you are doing for the Steemit (or other) communities, and having as many people as possible vote for you, and i am therefore amazed i even got to the top 100 for a while ( now i guess i'm 110-120 i checked like two months ago i think) and that i even get a daily block or two. I guess those voters are mostly like me, people that appreciate somebody that maintained servers with years of uptime :-)
I also got an unbelievable boost from @jerrybanfield , and am actually a partner of his.
In conclusion, i know i could make a lot of money making a lot of noise about my witness and publishing witness updates every week, but after 8 months quietly maintaining my witness, i don't think i need to prove i'm not in for the money :-)
Edit: forgot to ask you to vote for my witness LOL!

Depends on if I like you and what you do. I added you on Discord!

Very good for our body thank GOD
