Satay skewers, marinated slices of meat skewered on bamboo skewers and then grilled on fire charcoal, served with fragrant sauce-no wonder this dish is one of President Obama's favorite dishes when he was a child. Satay or skewers are undoubtedly one of the most famous dishes in Indonesia. It is a dish recognized by many Southeast Asian countries as belonging to their own countries. In fact, if we look back at the Oriental-flavored Indian barbecue brought to Java by Muslim merchants, we can trace the origin of Satay.
