The once-humble hamburger has become too fancy for its own good.
As the number of outlets serving “better” burgers—featuring nontraditional toppings and artisan buns—has skyrocketed over the past decade, so has the average burger tab, turning some customers off.
Brian Cockerline, a 20-year-old Rutgers University student, used to go to Five Guys for a burger once a week in South Plainfield, N.J. With fries and a drink, his tab was about $13.

If I'm looking for a cheap decent burger, I'll check out In and out. If I want a gourmet burger, then its Bachi Burger or some other place with a gourmet burger. I think I've only paid $13 for a burger once at the grove in LA.

That's a lot to pay for a burger. Everything is more expensive now. A traditional burger where I live is about 4.50 but of course at the nicer restaurant you'd pay much more especially the fancy ones. I'll take the old fashion ones at a simple restaurant if that's possible now days.
