Hello lovely people of steemit , I hope you are all doing great? Today been the second of our #FRUITWEEK, our fruit for thought today is the legendary Avocado fruit.
History has it that Mr Avocado originated from South Mexico around 5, 000 and 7, 000 B C. Avocado is actually a berry because of its fleshy pulp and large single single seed, It consist mainly of carbohydrate, it is enriched with lots of healthy fats.
Avocados are packed with nutrients such as vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin K, I will say it's a unique fruit with lots of health benefits, here are some of its amazing benefits 👇👇.

I. Avocados promotes and maintain good eye sight: Avocados are packed with powerful anti-toxidants that protects the eyes such as carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, this antioxidants are essential for healthy eyes.
Studies show that diets high in these antioxidants can help avoid eye diseases like cataract and mucular degeneration, a condition which may result in blurred or no vision causing blinds spots. It contains another mineral called zinc which helps to absorb vitamin A, a necessary vitamin against night blindness and dry eyes. So for healthy eyes, ensure to consume Avocados regularly as part of your diet.

II. Avocado is good for a healthy heart : Like I mentioned earlier, avocados are rich in healthy monosaturated fats one which is oleic acid, a healthy fatty acids that reduces inflammation, improves the lining of blood vessels and prevent excessive clotting of blood.
Consuming Avocado lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and stroke, it also helps to control blood pressure.

III.it helps treat arthritis : This is a painful condition caused by swelling and inflammation of bone joints. The good news is that avocados are anti-inflammatory due to their unique Boi-active compounds such as Vitamin E, Flavanoid, carotenoids and Omega-3 fatty acid. This evergreen fruits is very effective against arthritis.

Avocados lowers risk of depression : Avocado is also rich Vitamin B9 known as folic acid, which reduces risk of depression because folic acid prevents the accumulation of homocystein, an amino acid when in high concentration causes heart disease and stroke. Excess of this amino acid can also lower the production of serotonin and norepinephrine, which regulates sleep, mood and appetite.

Avocados are good sources of potassium: potassium has lots of health benefits, one of the most important is that it lowers blood pressure, strengthen the arteries and helps to prevent cardiovascular disease. The potassium you get from one avocado is more than twice the the amount you can get from bananas. So protect your heart by getting more potassium from avocados.

V. It is very good for a healthy pregnancy, the folic acid in avocados is very essential for healthy babies in the womb, it also reduces risk of miscarriage and neural tube defects which are birth defects of brain and spinal cord that cause severe problems to the babies.
