ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรือ (Kuay Teow Rua)
BOAT NOODLE SOUP ?
Kuay Teow means ‘noodle’
Rua means ‘boat’
Basically, it’s boat noodle soup but what’s that supposed to mean? In the past, in Thailand, people transited/commuted by boats. Some people also sold products/food on boats. Noodle is one of them.
These days, people sell boat noodle still but not in rivers anymore.. Well, you could still find those who sell in the river at some floating markets ex. Amphawa floating market. Some still keep a bit of the tradition by cooking noodle in a boat (Though, they do it on the ground :D).
Where to get boat noodle soup?
There’re some certain places that are known for it, like, Ayutthaya Province, Along the canal in Rangsit District, and here in the center of Bangkok, Victory Monuments. In these places’ area, there’re a lot of places you could choose from.
Victory Monument is the one I’m going to pretty often because of how easy to get there. Also I’ve been a fan of this specific little shop in a small alley (you’d never find it yourself) for years! I believe the harder for you to find, the more delicious it is so this is sure very yummm !
A secret little boat noodle soup shop in a small alley hidden in the center of Bangkok.
To get to the Area of Victory Monument, besides taking a Grab or Uber here, you could also take the BTS (Sky train) and get of at ‘Victory Monument Station’ and walk to the place which is exactly here.
Wrote down this place for my foreign friend once and he couldn’t find it so this would help you at least a bit.
That small alley is where you will want to look for.
You might be a little shocked if you’re not use to street food. This is the next level (lower one). I have no problem eating here since I’m so use to this type of place. A bit dirty and located just right by a not very good looking canal. Believe me, the boat noodle soup here will be worth your journey and adventure! 😀

Pork blood soup..
The soup looks hella RED, doesn’t it? They reason why this type of noodle soup ‘Kuay Teow Nam Tok’ looks a bit different from other types, the word ‘NAM TOK’ is to put a little bit of fresh pork blood mix into the soup before serving. Some foreigners call this thing ‘Pork blood soup’. It might sounds creepy to you but again, believe me, it will be worth a try. It’s really really gooooood ! 😀 My favourite !

That is dirt cheap and we didn't know there would be a place still selling noodles for less than 30 baht! Though, the portions sizes are small, so Sam would need at least 3 bowls of this. Nice one! Good find.

Well, make that 6 bowls for Sam and none for Becca (doesn't eat meat) - 60 baht, that's a bargain!
