#15: Very English Afternoon Tea Party ♪

Following my previous post, I left London and now I'm back in continental Europe where I'm currently based. A group of my English friends were coming over, so I organised an Afternoon Tea Party at my place.

Welcome Drink - Aperol Cocktail

The weather was so fantastic, it's like summer has already arrived here. We had a toast with a glass of summery cocktail, which consisted of Aperol, Crémant, with some cucumber and fruits... This was a perfect drink for a beautiful sunny day.

What's Traditional English Afternoon Tea?

What would you expect when you hear English Afternoon Tea? The tiers of elegant little sandwiches, scones, clotted cream and jam, some sweet pastries and cakes and of course lots of tea, that's right!

My Homemade Mini Scones

At my place... because it's hard to find real good English scones once you step outside the UK, I decided to make my own... Clotted cream is also almost impossible to find, so I prepared some whipped cream as a substitute.

Here are my first homemade mini scones!!

Gâteau au Chocolat

This is my usual Gâteau au Chocolat - of course I used rich and dark Belgian Chocolate.

Swiss Roll

One more cake! I made an extra effort, I baked a super fluffy Swiss Roll too. This was my first time to make three different cakes in one day 😂

We had countless cups of Yorkshire Tea, talking about the Royal Wedding obviously : ) Did you watch the wedding? Wow it was beautiful!

BBC commentator said 'what a shot...' at the end of the horse carriage procession (can you see the crowd in the background?) Windsor looked absolutely magical that day..

Anyway, we had lots of tea and lots of chat, had a lovely Afternoon Tea at my place.

ps. My homemade mini scones were sold out very quickly, which made me happy too : )

Looks like a lovely afternoon tea party @anna-bella. I never thought of using whipped cream in place of clotted cream, what a terrific idea!

Glad you like it @loveself! I thought it would be better than nothing, haha. I liked whipped cream better because it's much lighter than clotted cream - anyway we ate too much cake... now I need to watch my diet! lol

Sounds like my type of tea party, haha.

Your strawberry loaf cake would be a hit for sure! : D

It's very timely post @anna-bella!!
The royal wedding at saturday was everything perfect!!
I watched that on Youtube Live.
Meghan Markle will be a new breeze of the British royal family, and to the worldwide. I felt so and very impressed.

a-nd Cucumber cocktail? What? What? I can't even imagine.

Various styles are get down on your dining table.
(☆∀☆)so fantastic~♪Homemade scone is the best!

Yees I watched the whole thing too on BBC : ) I thought that preacher went on waaay too long.. I was worried someone might come up to stop him... lol but apart from that, it was just beautiful... Everything looked so beautiful, the weather was the best, Windsor looked like a fairy tale, the bride was glowing... I wish I could chat with you in person, hehe. Oh as for the cucumber cocktail, I just wrote another post dedicated to you my dear @mdn : )

Yes, the preacher was too excited....too much...
but at that time, only Megan Markle showed attitude to listening to his speech.
I thought that was a her professional technique as actress.
She perfectly understood that the wedding live are being relayed all over the world, and that is reserved as the history of mankind to the future too.

I wish I could chat with you in person,

Stupidly I truly received this↑ and looked for you in "steemit chat".
You didn't create account yet.

"steemit chat" is a live chat function, but we have a time difference,so live chat is might be not realistic,
but it can be use like as personal e - mail because it can use direct messages.
I will never force this to you.
As one method.

※If you create "steemit chat" account, please set a different from steemit password for security.

ohhhh 'steemit chat' .... wow I never used that function, I should create an account then!! Thanks for your advice, always. I'll have a look this evening!

I would've been delighted to join for some tea and those yummy scones and cake while watching the royal wedding :) By the way, I just found Megan's dress a bit sober, thought there would be at least some lace. However, she is indeed beautiful.

Yeah I wish you could've joined us jessie! All my friends would've loved you. As for the dress, yes I agree, I first thought wow it is so plain,,,,no lace!?! just like you said, but then realised it's all about the veil, that 5m veil with all the floral design details!! When she came out of the chapel, she was literally glowing, that dress looked actually super chic and stylish I thought in the end. (We could all be fashion critic. lol)

That's sweet thanks :) You're right about the veil, it caught my eye too. And her reception dress was mindblowing. Ahhhh, makes me dream of my future wedding dress. Hopefully getting married in 2 years ;)

So exciting to think about your dream wedding dress! You're going to look fabulous I'm sure!!

Thanks. For now the plans are to get married on the beach, so it will have to be a dress for that context. But I definetly want lace, it is so beautiful and romantic.

Wow this looks delicious! I would love to participate to one of your afternoon tea sessions, too! :)

Thanks @manncpt! You're always welcomed. Come over we have lots of cakes and tea : D D

Tea looks lovely! Didn't watch the wedding not my thing to idolise anyone. Sure they are nice people but no one deserves to be on a pedestal in my book 💯🐒

Thanks @vibeof100monkeys : ) What's your favourite tea brand? Mine is Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire Tea! I read an article saying 60% of Brits not interested in the royal wedding whilst the rest of the world.. especially people in US are totally fascinated by it - an interesting contrast.

I think I use Harrogate tea a nice mint tea. Also quite partial to Qi tea a nice green and dandelion root.

An very interesting contrast, maybe it because we are lumbered with the bill at the end. This when our roads have more holes than swiss cheese and homelessness is increasing rapidly. Not a royalist myself as you might have guessed not big on people showing off immense wealth when others struggle to even eat very medieval...... Haha sorry I won't go into a rant. Ahhh enjoy some mint tea slurrrp 💯🐒

oh you like herbal tea, lovely! I like sipping Dammann's camomille tea before bedtime, which is now : ) I'm always interested in hearing different views, so thanks for your comment. Hope you're enjoying your mint tea!

Mint is my favourite for sure. Have one on arrival at work after my cycle in 💯🐒

Have a lovely day @vibeof100monkeys. Another cracking sunny day.. I feel like I'm on holiday already. Hope it is sunny and beautiful in Lancashire too!!

Cracking I am lapping up the rays 22 degrees in the north. Locals are calling it a heatwave which made me chuckle haha 💯🐒
