Moment of Muhammad's Birthday for Wanderer

Resident in Dusun Sederhana, sub-district of Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh city, commemorates the Muhammad's birthday or we call that "Maulid" in bahasa, on Sunday, fourth February 2018 yesterday. Like many tradition in Aceh province, Indonesia, we commemorates Muhammad's birthday by cook a traditional food, we call that "kuah beulangong". This year, we cook seven kuah beulangong.

Around my village, there are many students because in here there are two university, that's Unsyiah and UIN Ar-Raniry. For them, students who wanderer to Banda Aceh and living in rented home with friend, moment of Muhammad's birthday can be blessing because they're can get free rice. Usually, in the Maulid there is special food, of course because it will be expensive if we buy by self. And if luck, we can bring home more rice.

That Sunday, old man and young man work together to make kuah beulangong in the Baitul Muttaqin mosque yard. Around 10.00 AM, some people put wood on the bottom of cooking pot, it's signal kuah beulangong will cooked in a minutes. Stack of meat entered to cooking pot, and a man mixed them with a special spices.

While waiting kuah beulangong, my friends and I talk some topic to spent time. An hour toward kuah beulangong finish, resident bring some rice to mosque. After praying in noon, we ate rice plus kuah beulangong together in mosque yard. Of course the students also ate with us.

And if there are any rice who nobody ate, we can bring it to home. Nobody can forbid anybody to bring home more rice, of course after everybody ate.

Oiya, for your information, in Aceh province, commemoration of Muhammad birthday will going on three month.
