Cucumber Salad Bangkok Thailand foodphotography

in foodphotography •  7 years ago  (edited)

This cucumber salad is the type of food I often eat now in Bangkok Thailand. I live in a hotel with limited cooking options. This is easy to make since I just chop up various produce items from my local market, add spices and some other items I get at the 711 or Tesco.

In this case I have watermelon which I normally do not get because it is so heavy to carry. But they were giving samples in the market stall and it was so good I had to give in and lug it home.

The cucumbers on this salad are very tiny and so much better than I have ever had anywhere else.

My post is for today's foodphotography @photocontest by @juliank. I’m using a Canon ELPH160 point and shoot camera.

I like cucumber
Kept it up

Oh yes, good point. I have seem it recommended for that too. I eat it because I love it and it was on of my mom's favorite foods, so it reminds me of her.

You live in hotel for so long? 😱

Yes - I have done this for many years on and off. The first time was when I was young and I just like it this way. But normally I have some type of kitchen. Here I only can boil water and I have a refrigerator at least :)

Isn't staying in hotel expensive there?

It's actually cheaper than an apartment or condo. I pay less than $300 usd per month including wifi and I only have a one month deposit on hold. Condos here take a 2 month deposit and are more expensive - maybe $600 in a less convenient location.

$300 is huge amount for me. Its more the my salary. But seeing the other figure, this one is good.

Oh wow - Maybe I need to move near you.

Hahaha. I live in Goa. It's beautiful and smallest state in India. Better known for tourism.

It looks very appetizing! Try adding small pieces of sheep cheese, the combination will be excellent, satisfying and tasty and a couple drops of balsamic vinegar.

Well, I am in Thailand so the cheese is either horrible or expensive or both! This has coconut oil on it and lime juice. When I see balsamic vinegar here, the price makes me what to faint!

Lime juice is super! We add lemon juice. Instead of cheese, you can make plain cow curd. You can make it yourself from milk. ..... Sorry, did not consider that you have a problem with the place of cooking. But, if you let the milk get sour and warm even in an electric kettle, or with a reboiler, the cottage cheese will turn out to be better than in your store or in the bazaar. It's not important)) Just a little advice. More boiled shrimp there will look great!))

Oh wow! You are a creative cook! I love shrimp, but it is expensive here. Where are you living?

Greetings from Moldova! A small country between Romania and Ukraine, where shrimp is even more expensive)) We do not have our shores to the sea. But, in our country, sheep breeding is very developed, and sheep cheese is affordable enough. It is cheaper than Parmesan several times)) But also Parmesan, rarely, but when you want to pamper yourself, we add. I'm not a cook, I just like to eat deliciously, and sometimes cook something delicious. My wife is preparing well, I do not interfere with the process)) My share of participation is meat, smoking, salting, barbecue. We dream of moving to the village. and start making cheeses and sausages. But sausage, we do in the rented apartment ourselves.

How interesting. I do not think I will be going to Europe anytime soon even though I would like to. SE Asia has my heart now :)

OMG I would not survive without good cheese! LOL

Yes, that is one of my few things I miss. I am a cheese lover. Thai people think is is rotten milk and don't like it for the most part. I got some Danish cheese once for about $10 and the portion was so small it was gone in a heartbeat. I also do not eat the bread here - it's all like wonder bread - yuck.

And don't even try the "pizza." The sauce is like ketchup, the cheese is gross, the crust is limp, and they give you a little packet of dried oregano on the side just to make you cry!

Oh wow. Maybe I should have opened up a restaurant over there and showed them how to cook!!! LOL (but then everyone would be fat like me). ;)

Looks delish! You have the best food pix! Food porn LOL

Thank you very much! I want some watermelon now after looking at this today :)

looks very delicious :)

Thank you very much! It was :)
