Today's Food Adventure takes us to the laid-back Chicago-inspired restaurant - Tippler's Tap!

Tippler's Tap specialises in an ever-changing array of beers on tap and delicious foods that perfectly match with all sorts of beer! Think burgers, hot dogs, sliders, CHICKEN WINGS, onion rings and loaded fries. Throw in a few great friends and you're set for a perfect night out.

Located in the heart of Southbank, Brisbane it's very easy to find and was already full of people when we were shown to our table. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of beer and I don't actually drink very often at all but Ben does enjoy a nice Beer from time to time. All food and drink orders are taken at the counter so we made our way to the bar counter to order a huge array of food (YUM!) and a couple of craft beers to try.

What did we order?

• Chicken Wings - DELICIOUS! Their famous dry spice-rubbed chicken wings with blue cheese dipping sauce
• Onion Rings - Panko crumbed with aioli sauce
• Crumbed Mushrooms - DELICIOUS! Beer & herb crumbed, then fried to delicious perfection
• Beef Chilli Loaded Fries - Beer battered fries with beef & bean chilli, sour cream, sour onion & chives
• Chilli Dog - Hot dog with beef & bean chilli and cheese
• A Classic Cheeseburger
• 5 Sliders Platter: Each slider is inspired by a different neighourhood in Chicago
  - Italian Beef: Thin sliced, seasonsed roast beef with giardiniera & beef jus
  - Mini Reuben: Corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, pickles, thousand island dressing
  - Cajun Chicken: Cajun chicken, lettuce, guacamole, jalapeno aioli
  - The "Little Baby": Grilled beef patty, pickles, ketchup, mustard, aioli
  - The Hermes: Haloumi, cucumber, roasted red pepper, beetroot marmalade, tzaziki
• Beers: I honestly can't remember what Ben ordered 😅

Favourites from the Menu

My favourites were very easy to decide - their signature chicken wings & the crumbed mushrooms. I sort of have a huge obsession with chicken wings so once I saw them on the menu, it was a no-brainer that I had to try them. I was not disappointed. They were crispy, tasty and I actually preferred them without the blue cheese sauce. The blue cheese sauce took away from the flavours of the chicken wing.

The mushrooms were just 👌 👌 👌! Juicy on the inside, crispy and delicious crumbing on the outside and perfect with a little bit of aioli dipping sauce.

Not so Favourite

The rest of the food was average, nothing amazing but not terrible either. Although, the biggest disappointment were the mini burger sliders. I had high hopes for all the different slider variations as they offered them in a platter but by the time they were served, they were cold and the buns were dry and not enjoyable to eat. So I didn't end up finishing the sliders and went straight back to indulging on chicken wings.

Overall thoughts

I will definitely be back for chicken wings and crumbed mushrooms if I want to have a nice and relaxing night out with friends/family over food. The atmosphere was lively and the staff were great. I will just remember to avoid the sliders next time!
