What wine do you bring to a BBQ?

Most people think of beer when it comes to BBQ, and don't get me wrong, I LOVE beer! But I'm a wine girl. So what wine should you bring to a BBQ? If they're making brisket (like above), here are some great options:

Zinfandel
Syrah
Malbec
Tempranillo

Also, why was I drinking water? Must have been an off day...

Im all for the beer when it comes to BBQ

Ok. NOW I am confused:

  • Did this post get this much money (Steam Dollars), because Steemians like it
    or
  • was this a bot?

Well, the displayed money is whatever the author chooses as the payout option, either steem power or steem/sbd 50/50 split, or none to the author.

Most people use bots, using bots is profitable. With every hard fork and version upgrade there's some small change to how the economy works set in stone. What you see happen on steemit trends very close to the optimized curve for how to make the most money for yourself based on the math set forth in these changelogs. Then there is the interplay of whale activity, their utilization of bots, and various settings that witnesses can change and which witnesses are voted to the top.

So until the community moves against bots or self-voting or circular voting in droves you'll continue to see those methods of making money be used because, well, profit motive. Votes are weighted by wealth so it's not really a democracy at all.

By the way: Dont get me wrong. The picture is good but I am really wondering, wheter people on Steem like pictures (of food) this much

its a plundering scam, to plunder funds from the pool get rich and do not worry of the rest that put effort to their posts, this user posts multiple posts a day and they all get about the same. the quality of the post I cannot determine. I would call this a facebook post. Not anything to do with community just a look at me post, only here, you can get paid for sharing, seems 50 friends came over from facebook

Please don't accuse me of not engaging in the community. This photo is tagged with foodphotography because I was entering a contest that another Steemian started. Look up the tag and you'll see tons of entries. Being a part of the community, meeting people, and sharing my experiences is exactly why I joined. Which is why you see me respond to comments when I can. Do your homework before you bash me please!

I guess Id be bashing the whole photo what you eat community in general. How does posting a picture of what you eat add to the community,, Now if you add the recipe and how to cook it and all that kind of stuff, it offers something,, this is what I had for dinner is a joke, if you do not see that logic you are blinded by your rewards.

It's a photography contest! Why would I put a recipe.

well there you have it, you answered yourself, It offers nothing to the community but a reward for yourself, a competition, Congratulations on working it out

you did nothing wrong @travelingsomm, you can post whatever the hell you like.
Still, this is really frustrating to see. In no possible way should your posts earn anything like this. Why would you get rewarded 250$ for posting a picture. Think about it. I totally agree with @brayias. This applies to all of your posts. You are a weird Steemit phaenomena created by @kpine. This account, this single person, is the reason for your success, you did not work for it as many others on this platform do.
Steemit is a social experiment and so are you :) All the people just jump on because it is a high paid post and they want to put their names out there, aka have a piece of the cake. I really do not get the motives of people like @kpine, using his/her voting power like this is just stupid and does not bring steemit forward, it could be used way better at other ends. Then again, he/she is free to do whatever he/she wants to do. I just cant figure out the why. For me there are two possible reasons
a) you know each other in real life
b) @kpine has a lot of fun of watching where he can direct people with money, he is basically buying you, making you post more stuff, it is a really interesting experiment to watch :)

Anyway, congrats on your rewards, spend them wisely ;)

I been researching writing a lot and don't get much

Wish i could make $260.00 posting pictures lol!!!!

Wow...I don't think I'd be able to move for a week if I ate all that! In fact, it would probably take me a week to eat all that! Impressive. Also, the water looks refreshing – we can just imagine a glass of syrah, somewhere just out of frame.

I couldn't eat it all unfortunately :(
Thanks again for the support!

That's when you need a good, trash-compacting meal buddy who ensures no morsel goes unswallowed. ;)

I'm hungry

I would say it all depends on what will you prepare on your grill. Is it going to be red meat, chicken, vegetables or maybe fish? Generally red wine will be paired better w red meat...

I also really like drinking water rather than drinking wine @travelingsomm

Smederevka is the right choice. :)

Bordeaux and Brisket. Hands down.

Perfect varietal selections - syrah and zin are my go to BBQ wines!! (but not until a bottle or two of ice cold sauv blanc is consumed!)

Looks delicious. Here in South Africa we call it a 'braai' :)

I'm hungry :)

Good post

I am hungry hehe

Soy de Mendoza, Argentina, capital internacional del vino. Mendoza es famosa por producir el mejor malbec 🤗
Nunca puede faltar un buen Malbec.
Otras opciones son Cabernet Sauvignon o Bonarda.
Salud 🍷

Mmm...looks appetizing!

very tasty, hungry when see it, you are lucky can eat ... selamat.suatu when I also gained will feel it.

I am coming to eat this.

Merlot!!

As it seems to me, almost any red wine will do. Maybe with the exception of the thin Pinot noir or Spetburgunder or Barolo ...

Initially I thought I would have some wine, but after seeing the picture of food again, I decided it would be waste of time for me think about wine , i would like this delicious mouth watering food.
Delicious food would be on everybody's mind when they see this picture.

This is an interesting question and one that was address by some food writers/chefs at SXSW Bites, their "food" part of SXSW. Chef Edward Lee said that basically wines have a hard time standing up to the char of American BBQ. He summed it up this way, "It’s as simple as burnt toast. Have a nicely toasted toast with butter and then you have one drink of wine with it. Once you burn it and put butter on it, wine doesn’t go any more. And I think that’s what American food is embracing, this idea of char, smoke [and] burn."

Because of that, they said that the ideal pairing is Bourbon. It was a fascinating panel and I summarized it here: https://www.saflavor.com/bbq-bourbon-pair-well-sxsw-southbites-discussion/

Such a hipster way of thinking about it. Only the new wave of barbecue places, for example, in San Francisco, or even here in Sonoma County, even carry spirits. The concept of pairing bourbon with BBQ is very new school. So SXSW :) I'm surprised they didn't go as far as saying mezcal - the king of smoked spirits.

Growing up in the Midwest (one step from the South) I don't think a single barbecue joint I went to even had a license for spirits - it was always beer. Today, you're lucky to find a screw cap half bottle of cheap red wine. I don't think I ever had an option of having a bourbon with my ribs when I was visiting St. Louis, Chicago, New Orleans or Memphis.

While I have enjoyed a big, bold Sonoma County syrah and/or zinfandel with many a barbecue dish (they can stand up to the smoke, you just need to know the right wines by the wine producer and climate - trust me, they can compete) my favorite pairing in the end is a pilsner, lager or kolsch.

I also think drinking Pappy with hometown barbecue would do a disservice to both the bourbon and the barbecue. LOL.

What's wrong with Mezcal being the king of smoked spirits ;)

Definitely is a new/hipster trend with Andrew Knowlton (from Georgia) saying the same thing
as you—"When I grew up in Georgia, you would never go to a BBQ restaurant and find alcohol. You go to have barbecue just to eat… it seems kind of like a weird pairing on the surface of things."

Growing up in Texas it was either beer (your Dad beers (Miller Lite, Bud Lite, Coors Lite)) and tea. Maybe you'd get some kool-aid. And I agree with you that a beer is awesome when it comes to the climate (give me a Real Ale or Lone Star and BBQ and I'm happy). But I have enjoyed my share of bourbon with BBQ–I think that it is a solid pairing and one I'd take over wine if given my choice.

(Seriously though, a good Mezcal is a mighty fine thing).

Yay! So screw hipster bourbon pairings - cheap beer to wash down the goodness :) hifive

I'm not a huge huge huge mezcal enthusiast, but appreciate the flavors and really like seeing how it's grown market-wise. Give me a tequila Añejo and I'm a happy girl!

Spanish red wine...Of course!

I'm so jealous right now :o also another good wine you forgot: Touriga. Another good wine you forgot: beer ;)

Zin is almost the fallback for anything, isn't it? (And my favorite)

It looks so delicious :) We are hungry after your post :) And we love bbq too..I can t think burger and chips without it.

Definitely I'll bring a red wine from Italy (e.g. Amicone Veneto) or a red wine from Chile (e.g. Escudo Rojo).
And save water and drink wine .... 🍷🍷
